I booked Lorraine and her company Gallivanting Tours for an evening of food and storytelling for visiting clients from USA. What an amazing experience. Lorraine and her Chef, Anthony came to our house, prepared and cooked an amazing meal made from local, Wexford produce and Lorraine then entertained us with stories of the locality and the amazing house we were staying in. Lorraine is knowledgeable, passionate, bubbly and the perfect host. My guests were in awe of the experience and all reported back what a fantastic evening it was. Totally worth the price and an experience not to be missed!!

Review of: The Ring of Hook
The Ring of Hook is a must when you visit county Wexford. Beautiful scenery, hidden deserted beaches, coastal views, Hook Lighthouse, Slade, Duncannon Abbey, memorable stone walls, radient hydrangias and lots more. We loved the Ring of Hook.

Lorraine is great - knowledgeable, flexible, interesting and delightful. She brought Ireland’s folklore and history to life. My husband had made arrangements with her by email in advance as to the gardens he wanted to see, but when he wanted to spend hours at Usher garden and I wanted to see a castle, she took me to a castle! Our “plan” for the day changed completely and was great! It was really great to relax and to put ourselves in Lorraine’s most capable hands for the day so all we had to do was enjoy Ireland!

My husband and I took our trip to Ireland in May, and while it’s (regrettably) taken me this long to write a review, even now the memories are still crystal clear and we can’t stop talking about it, so I’ll just begin with that! We both agree that this was one of our most memorable trips ever, largely thanks to our two days in Wexford and Coolgreany with Gallivanting Tours; one day was spent enjoying the food and sights of Wexford with Lorraine, and the second day was spent doing the blacksmith workshop with Finin Christie. This was our second visit to Ireland, and we really wanted to see more of the country. Lorraine was so helpful and a joy to work with right from the beginning, when I first contacted her to ask with questions about one of the packages she offered. From there she helped put together a custom tour that included everything my husband and I wanted to do. Our day began being collected from Dublin, and going to Royal Oak Distillery in Carlow, which we had been hoping to visit for over a year! Then we enjoyed a delicious lunch of locally smoked salmon at The Cracked Teapot in New Ross, and met it’s owner Tina. Tina makes her own brown soda bread and when I took a bite it was heavenly. I don’t think I’ve EVER said that about soda bread! I’ve been hearing how Wexford is a bit of a hidden gem in regards to its food, and weren’t disappointed! Afterwards, even though one of our original plans fell through, Lorraine still provided us with other options. My husband really loves a good haunted house tour, and we chose to visit the haunted corridors of Loftus Hall, which was a fantastic (and yes, quite spooky) experience we really enjoyed! After that we also had a little time left to drive to the Hook Lighthouse, and have a little whiskey toast at the end of the day before we were dropped off at our hotel. It was also so much better not being bound to a rigid timetable like on a large coach tour, so were able to have a much more relaxed and personalized experience. Not only were the the destinations beautiful, the in-between drive was fun and we got to really enjoy chatting and having snacks. We got to hear the history and legends of the eastern regions of Ireland, and though we heard a tale or two on other tours, having Lorraine weave these magnificent stories with such enthusiasm as we drove through the countryside was a very special treat! She is proud of her Irish heritage; her knowledge really shows and it’s infectious! Thank you Lorraine for spending that day with us and Declan for driving us all around! Our following day, we booked a full-day blacksmithing workshop with Finin, and this was another huge highlight of our entire trip to Ireland. Finin was so welcoming and a terrific teacher for the two of us (who had no experience in a forge at all). We each chose a project to do and Finin guided us through the process and taught us a few basic techniques. Forging something by hand was an incredible experience, and I had no idea that we could make such amazing pieces from metal! At the end of the day we had very special and unique souvenirs to bring home! By the time we had to pack up our newly-forged tools and head back to Dublin, our arms were sore from hammering and our hands were covered in soot, but we also felt like we made new friends and memories that will certainly last longer than our short stay on the island. Thank you to Lorraine and Finin for making our trip to Ireland so special! This trip wasn’t just about seeing things, it was about meeting wonderful people and having an experience we’ll always remember. I can’t say enough about what a wonderful time we had with both of you and we certainly do hope to one day be back!

My wife and I spent two days exploring southeast Ireland (County Wexford) with Lorraine from Gallivanting Tours. Neither myself or my wife are history buffs, but we thoroughly enjoyed learning about Ireland’s past, dating back hundreds of years. Giving a good understanding of what makes Ireland what it is today. Lorraine is extremely knowledgeable, and I can’t imagine anyone knowing more about the area than she does. We got to places we would never see on our own. To top it off, Lorraine is easy going, friendly and likes a good laugh. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed if you book a tour with Gallivanting Tours. There are more positive comments I could make, but the other reviews have already touched on them, and I agree 100% with them.
