Great day. Went from Dublin quays to Dun Laoghaire and then on to Howth.
Pat (tour guide) was very knowledgable and entertaining.
Only disappointment was not having time in Dun Laoghaire to walk around as we were late departing Dublin City.

This is a beautiful bay and is just perfect when the sun is glimmering on the water.

Dublin Bay is the reason for Dublin. It also makes Dublin unique among cities... It is a beautiful natural setting within walking distance of the city centre. Dublin Bay stretches from the Hill of Howth in the North, around to DunLaoighre in the South, with the Dublin Mountains in the background. Here are two great ways to see it. 1. Take the Dart suburban rail lilne which runs along the coast. Go to Howth or DunLaoighre, or both. 2. Go to the South Wall and walk on the water. The South Wall is the harbour wall on the South side of the river. It stretches out into the bay for one kilometre. You will feel like you are walking on water. The Bay is wrapping around you at this point. Well worth a visit, but not easy to get to, as it is undeveloped as a destination. To get there you could use a taxi, or a citybike. It is at the base of the powerstation, whose red and white chimneys are a landmark on the bay. It is a quiet spot. Best for ladies to go with a friend for that reason.

A city with so much history, great potential and lovely friendly people. Sadly such a disappointing visit. Dublin could have so much going for it, and as our bus tour guide informed us, it’s got the fastest growing economy in Europe, due to lots of investment.
Sadly this investment would be better spent cleaning up the city. I have never come across a city with so much deprivation in the form of addicts/alcoholics begging to get their next fix. The streets are very dirty over the north side of the Liffey, lots of litter, and smell of urine. Homeless people everywhere. So sad and often very intimidating, I would not recommend visiting Dublin to my worst enemy. If I could have changed my flight I’d have gone home after 2 nights. It’s also very expensive. Avoid!!!

The food was great, attractions are good loved the Jameson tour and music museum. Bad points are the pubs had no atmosphere and full off beggers. Not many true Irish people around. Town was run down.

I think the nicest parts of Dublin are along the sea! From Dun Laoghaire, Greystones and Sandymount on the southside to Clontarf, Malahide and Howth on the northside there are lots of lovely sea walks and views. I love walking along the sea in all of these places or even driving. On a sunny day its even better!

Dublin Bay is massive. I have walked around it but it is a long walk. You can start where ever. I like to start in Clontarf and walk in the direction of Dublin city centre. As you walk along Clontarf you can see the entrance to Dublin bay with the ships coming in. There are cargo vessels and passenger ships. On a nice day you can see the sun glitter off the sea. You can walk out to the end of the bull wall and look out on Dublin bay. You can walk around what was once the port area, it still is but there are less ships than there used to be.
As a child or young man boats went out with live animals and the animals were walked to the boats along the cobbled roads. Guniness boats were tied up and there was loading of massive containers of Gunniness.
That is long gone and now very few vessels can be seen close to the city. On the Ringsend side there are the famous twin towers which are no longer used, I believe they once were part of the Electricity Supply Board.
It is nice to see the bay from the north and south side, both have their charm but I like the north side as that is where I grew up so I am a bit biased. Enjoy it is really a beautiful day.

Best way of seeing this natural bay is by taking. The dart from Howth to Greystones..as you will see the bay from all sides and regardless of the weather enjoy immensely, if you are stuck for time at least take the dart from city centre to Bray and that will take you over some of the very scenic parts of the bay, where you can see beaches from great heights...and if raining remain dry!! One of the nicest places to walk around this bay is around Dun Laoghaire, there are many promenade walks with lots of great cafés and restaurants to chose from. With a bit of history to. If you have small children there is a very sandy beach at Sandycove, close to Dun Laoghaire, which s. Great spot for them to play and very safe for swimming.

In summer 2012 we went on our 3rd round trip of Ireland. It started with a tour round Dublin. We stayed at the wonderful Luis Fitzgerald hotel and also dined there. Very nice. The 1st day we toured round the county of Wicklow, the garden of Ireland. Very beautiful, historical sights. We finished the day in Kilkenny, where we visited the ancient castle of the Butler family.
The 2nd day took us to the Rock of Cashel, a Celtic fortress. We heard many stories about St Patrick's visit there. Then we visited the Midleton Whiskey Dislillry. There we took a round and learnt a lot about the process. And of course, we tasted " the water of life".
Day 3 took us to the most beautiful rout in Europe, the round of Kerry. It goes round the peninsula of Ivergah. You can see some hugh views of the Atlantic. The day ended in "the kingdom of Kerry"
Day 4 took us to the most beautiful Ring of Kerry, the peninsula of Iverahg. We saw wonderful sceneries of the Atlantic and small turf houses from the 17th hundrieds. We finished the day in the Killarney National Park with the wonderful MacGillicuddy Mountains and the lake.
Day 5 took us to the Victorian Mucross House which is furtinuted wonderfully at the standard of the time. The garden is world famous for its beauty - and it is! In the afternoon we hiked in the beautiful national park of Killarney. Then we visited the town of Limerick, founded by us the vikings. You know: there was a lady from Riga who smiled as she roded on a tiger. They finished the ride with the lady inside and the smile on the face of the tiger. Ha-ha.
In the evening we were taken to the the Bunrutty Castle for a dinner in the Viking style. Wonderful show with music, drubadous, maids and all. We had the dinner with a knife and
fingers only! Fantastic!
Day 6 took us to the west coast and the town of Galway, We saw a lot of special nature (the Burren Hights) and the Moher Kliffs. What a sight to the Atlantic! In the afternoon we took a 1 km long walk 1 km through the Ailwee Cave. It was like in the Lord of the Rings - deep in the mountain.
Day 7 In Dublin we visitied the Guinness Brewery once again. We had a round of the history and making of the drink, which ended with a glass of itself. Wonderful!
We can recommend a trip to Ireland. Easy going everwhere!
