Bring your jacket as the wind gets vicious because, y'know, you're right on the edge of the ocean as you stand in these deserted ruins of a castle hundreds of years old. There's about a 250m walk along a rutted country track, with a few...More

Crumbling castle built on crumbly promontory of sedimentary rock. Beautiful location with great views.

You'll be amazed by the formation of the sea rocks and how they are being mirrored in the structure of Sinclair Castle. There will be some information on the walk leading from the parking lot to the castle. Feel free to walk around and explore...More

These ruins are off the beaten track and not signposted so you need to look, but wow, so well worth the effort. A small car park and then quite a pleasant medium length walk through private property along the hill top to reach the ruins....More

Very interesting castle with cliff-top walks. The information boards about the castle and the wildlife are excellent. Views are really good, especially with Noss Head lighthouse in the background. There are many different birds and the odd seal to enjoy as well. There are no...More

We stumbled into this awesome site while exploring the north coast. It's off the beaten track but worth the diversion. A bit of walking from the carpark takes you to an incredibly stunning vista of castle ruin and rocky coast that needs to be seen....More

We expected the usual for a ruined castle and got well above that. Plenty of imaginative information boards, made the visit a real journey into the past. The site and spectacular views, together with the myriads flora and fauna made this a magical and memorable...More

This is a classic ruin of a castle on the wind and sea swept shores of Caithness. Formerly the home to Clan Sinclair one can only imagine the feet that have trodden the path over the stones in the entrance over the centuries. It's a...More
