- CM15775110 contributionsJust what this Celtic traveler was looking for.Sitting listening to Celtic session music with a Talisker in hand was a must do on my list. Ben Nevis was did not disappoint. Friendly people at the bar and in the bar underscored the Glasgow experience. They don't have music every night so check the calendar. It is cozy, so enjoy the chance to chat with people you share some table space with.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten 9 May 2024

- yoavds19 contributionsThe Ben Nevis, for truly appreciative audience of Single Malt and Glasgow hospitalityI wrote this post after a long break due to COVID abrupt halt that had me change workplace and occupation, and had me stopped travelling. I am also somewhat anxious to put this place on high scores as I do not wish to spoil the excellent vibe it emanates through the somewhat sleepy neighborhood it resides in. I do owe the owners of the Ben Nevis whiskey specialized pub the gratitude for giving me, if only for an hour, such a warm welcome, even as the accidental tourist I was when randomly crossing the street and opening their door. The Ben Nevis has a “Wow!” Effect on people coming through the door, but in the most casual, calm and nice way possible. You simple dive into the live music, the chatter of the pub-dwellers, the smiles across the room and from the people over the counter helping to decide on the most suitable single malt you look for, a good pint and jug of spring water to go along, and the overall joy one’s feeling when sitting inside total strangers and conversation just flow, which in my opinion is the true essence and justification for any pub- breaking barriers is the raison d’etre for any pub, and Ben Nevis is in full success of accomplishing this mission, if there was a score higher than 100, I guess it would go to this pub. Use it wisely, love it and appreciate it and keep it to yourselves. A true Jem in Glasgow.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 20 May 2024
- George TKnoxville, Tennessee347 contributionsGreat local Pub for Friendly Locals and a Good PintVisited Recently after a Visit to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum for a pint or two. A Great local Pub with Friendly Bar Staff and friendly Locals. They say People Make Glasgow and The Ben Nevis is an Example of this. Whenever I travel abroad it’s always nice to meet the locals and have a chat about the Places I’m Visiting and the locals got me hooked on some very good Scotch Whisky’s that I wasn’t aware of. Thank you again for a wonderful visit and I can’t wait to visit again on my next trip to Glasgow.Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 11 June 2024

Ben Nevis treated me and my friends terribly. We arrived at 11pm and they put nothing but pressure on us the whole time we were there and kept reminding us of how long till we had to leave. As I was finishing my final drink, I was shouted at for taking too long so I informed the staff that customers shouldn’t be given this pressure in future. I recommend that nobody else should go to the Ben Nevis due to the terrible prices and even worse staff, you should go to the grove instead which is the best pub in the area.

Improve on the manner of the staff!
I visited on Saturday 19th June with 2 friends, we ordered a drink whist sitting in the tiny plastic enclosed makeshift booth between 3 gentlemen on our right and 5 on our left. Our drinks arrived and as we began chatting and having a general laugh between us the female on duty approached our table and said to keep the level down,’we were all shocked at her attitude and her approach to us. We were in no way being rowdy or offensive as we are all NHS staff one of which is going through a very traumatic personal experience and this was our first social
outing and in no way wanted to be judged. We did apologise only to be approached again by her and also ‘ Owen’ who then asked us to leave . We were absolutely shocked and embarrassed as by now other people were staring at disbelief and seemed “scared” to offer an opinion on their behaviour. I said if we have to leave then refund our drinks bills which again had only been purchased, it was met with total silence and ignorance whist ‘grabbing’ our drinks from the table… To say this behaviour is disgusting and unacceptable especially whist we as a country are dealing with the affects of this pandemic and want our local establishments to get back up and running , I for one think why bother!!!
I will be contacting this establishment personally and will be taking this further!!!

Rather strange experience this evening:: we used to come to Ben Nevis years ago with friends, but came here on Friday evening after dinner with old Uni friends, and around 11pm the lady serving behind the bar told our small group of 3 people that “we had too much to drink and wouldn’t serve us any more”. Honestly, we were all fine and no different from anyone else in the bar that evening. When I politely queried this it was not well received by the same female bar staff. The friends that had come up from London to visit were quite surprised by this and we ended up leaving ‘under a Cloud’. Real shame as this bar used to be such a good venue but for some reason our group had been singled out for rather unfortunate treatment during the evening of Fri 08 May 2024. Normally I would highly recommend this pub but the overly strict perspective of the lady working behind the bar was surprising to all of our party. We queried this very politely but received a rather blunt response and therefore left promptly after rather disappointed (given historical positive experiences at this bar). Very sad to see to experience this to be honest as Ben Nevis has historically been one of the top bars in finnieston of the preceding 4-5 years.

A fantastic bar. Huge whisky selection, including rare editionswith fantastic knowledgeable staff . One of the better equipped whiskey bars in Glasgow. They have a log fire which creates some authentic warmth and welcoming vibes. really lovely atmosphere. Drinks priced fairly. Will definitely be returning here on my next visit to Glasgow.

Something for everyone! Scotch is just the beginning. Staff are happy to describe the differences between scotch options. Friendly staff made it interesting. Then, the musicians arrived around 8pm.....and, they just kept coming....it was fab!

I’m Italian. I was recommended the Ben Nevis pub for a live music session by someone who lives in Glasgow. Amazingly, it turned out to be more than just a pub with live music! It’s an amazing whisky bar, with nice people to socialize with and with a kind, friendly and dependable bar tender. His name’s Eoin. He made my experience at Ben Nevis great. I’m interested in whisky so I loved its huge selection of bottles and my drams too, while talking about whisky in a pleasant atmosphere. Thank you!

Visited during Covid restrictions. Phoned first to reserve a table and was offered an outside table instantly with the promise of a move inside when available. It was a beautiful sunny early evening and outside would have been just fine, however on our arrival a table was available inside. There were 4 of us and we felt very safe. The staff all wore masks (and customers when moving about) - the service was superb and we were even bought a round by our next table - only in Glasgow. A super experience and thanks to that table of 3 next to us (and for the help with the QR scanning).
