Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to Tyrella beach on the bank holiday, big mistake. The queue to get into the Carparking was horrendous, the toilets were filthy and I stood in a queue with my grandson for an ice cream for over an hour. If you go to the beach, go on a quiet day. The beach itself is nice.

It is high time toilet facilities at Tyrella Beach were updated. At 4.30pm today the toilets were locked up and didn’t look as if they were operational at all. When we were there a couple of years ago they were open but disgraceful. That beach attracts a lot of tourists and this is embarrassing. Best make sure you have been to the toilet before you call here.

We had a great family day out here, relaxing for a few hours. Good enough size to get a private spot. Can get busy when the weather is good, but was a great atmosphere when we were there. Water is baltic, but sure have a paddle!
Bare in mind they charge in, I think approx ÂŁ4 /5. But we got in free as we only had a card! Our family behind had to pay as cash. Wouldnt be worth paying if youre only there for a short time, but worth it if you were there to spend the day!
Gripe: Ladies Loo's closed before 5pm! Men's were open though, but as mostly girls and small children we didnt want to use as men were in and out of it.

Stayed in The Beach House just 20sec from the beach .
The house was amazing on one level so good if you have an elderly person with you or someone with a disability it is fine large bathroom complete with wet room and a bath.

It was self catering but take aways deliver to the house if you don't fancy cooking five stars from us

Decided to go here instead of the busy North Coast and was pleased with the choice. Car park busy but was able to get parked. Toilets a bit smelly and hand dryer was not working; our councils really need to understand the importance of clean toilets for tourist/visitors and the impression it leaves on the location. Beach itself is great and nice and clean with lifeguards on duty. Plenty of room to socially distance and it was mostly filled with families so no yobbos thank goodness. Sun was out with blue skies so really a perfect day to have a picnic and chill out. I will go back and the drive up the coast past St. John's Point and up to Strangford is ideallic.

If you like a messy beach with pizza boxes, lighters, horse manure , plastic and overflowing bins this is the place for you! At four pounds for the privilege it is a bargain!!
LEAVE NO TRACE PEOPLE.

The fact that I actually paid to look at this beach merely adds insult to injury. Looked unkempt neglected and had a dismal and dingey atmosphere about it. Had to avoid the vast number of jellyfish on the beach and the entire experience was far from enjoyable. White Park Bay was a much more pleasant enjoyable and relaxing visit.

Visited Tyrella beach today for the first time in 50 years. Went here as a child and always had fond memories of a beautiful Sandy beach. What a let down! The beach has changed so much and not for the better! Stoney and seaweed everywhere! absolutely disgusting place and £4 entry fee🙄..,never again!! I shall stick to the beautiful free beaches of Benone, downhill or portrush from now on... so disappointed in Tyrella after travelling all that way to see it. Would give it 0 stars if I could !!!

This beach is absolutely stunning, spent a couple of hours here today, miles of sand with beautifully clean sea. Would recommend it for it's WOW factor.

BUT, the car park which is just a bit of scruffy ground behind the dunes charges ÂŁ4 to leave your car on a bit of scrub.

Took a detour on our way home to spend some time on this beach, which is advertised as the best in Co. Down. What a disappointment. We paid ÂŁ12 to admit 3 cars and when we saw the beach we were immediately sorry that we did. The whole place has an unkempt and dirty look about it and the young children were not even able to build sandcastles as it was virtually impossible to get a bucket of clean sand.
We shall stick to the free beaches of Portrush and Benone in future.
