This appears to be a fairly new cathedral, not very big and resposible for Newport now being able to call itself a city. It has been renovated and decorated and this work is seemingly continuing in part of the building. I enjoyed the organ being...More

The cathedral is at the top of a hill so get a taxi. Recently refurbished it is beautiful inside and people quite friendly. Sadly it is in a very rundown unattractive area. The building is quite small, about the size of an average parish church.

St Woolos is a beautiful small cathedral with many impressive features. The Norman arches are in excellent condition and like all the other features, quite exquisite. It is a cool, calming place and I would recommend a visit. The old and the "new" blend in...More

Currently under some major renovation so some parts are not accessible but it is a lovely little church (cathedral). Well worth a visit.

The cathedral has been tastefully modernised retaining a very sacred feel to the building. The choir stalls are new and the organ was renovated recently. It has four manuals, and amazing 32 foot stop!

Newport Cathedral was once a Catholic Church before the Reformation and remains the main Anglican Church for the Town. Up on Stow Hill and surrounded by tall trees, it is a relatively small Cathedral and with a simple interior. Just a lady at the entrance...More

Visited many times over the years without learning about the history of this very old cathedral church. Try and get a guided tour, the antiquity and facts about worship on this site are amazing. Not the splendour or size of some of the great cathedrals,...More
