If you like your history or are a tourist to the area then this place is a must see. You won’t be the first visitor here as the Neolithics, Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans all beat you to it!

Worth a visit just to see the views but the history of the place is so interesting and still so visible.

Not alot left of old Sarum, a few walls and lots of diagrams put up by the National Trust. If you've never visited this place it will take you about an hour at a stretch to cover all the details. It's very bleak once again...More

Really enjoyed our visit here. Interesting site. Purchased the English Heritage overseas visitors pass and well worth it. Took about 1-2 hours reading all the plaques around the site

It's ok if you tie it in with a few other trips in & around the city but I certainly wouldn't want visit Salisbury just to come here! Good views of the city. Has some signs giving brief historic notes but lacks depth, I guess...More

3 generations of my family visited this castle during the summer holidays, and we all had a good few hours here. There were organised activities for children and my son joined in a (staged) archeological dig in a sand pit, which was very well organised...More

We visited the lovely city of Salisbury in February this year (2018) for my Birthday. Old Sarum is an incredible place, redolent of History, very atmospheric and with stunning views out across the countryside. Apparently started as an Iron Age Hill Fort in approximately 400B.C...More

Really enjoy taking the dog up here for a walk - views of Salisbury are amazing - the staff are incredibly friendly - and there’s always a bowl of water out for the pooch. Interesting to see the foundations of the original cathedral and generally...More

This is a place for a sunny day with dogs and kids, or perhaps for those who like striking views with their history. Great for a couple of hour. Impeccably kept without spoiling its charm. We all loved it, you will too!

if you just want to see the ruins maybe 90 mins or so depending if you walk the surrounds. why not add in a picnic or visit the pub avross tne road. If you're trying to cram, combine with stonehenge and Salisbury city. Enjoy
