See the best of Birmingham with a local guide by your side with this walking tour of the city. Visit Centenary Square, the old Jewellery Quarter, St. Chad's Cathedral, and Victoria Square, with plenty of time to admire the city’s Georgian architecture and learn about its history from your local guide.

If you want shopping it's probably ok and the roof looks nice. However if you are actually using it to catch or change trains it is one of the worst stations in the country. The platforms are narrow and dark and there is little information to help you. Platforms are grouped and have separate hidden entrances from the main concourse so when entering the station you need to walk miles to get to the gate line for your platform. If you need to change you want the B end of the platform as this gives you access to a central corridor that links all the platforms. This could be better signposted. The departure screens could also show where the front of the train would be to make the information about which coach you need more useful.

Birmingham New Street is massive and so full of life walking inside the station. Also plenty of shops and cafes to enjoy food and drink before catching train. Theft of personal belongings is a real big issue at this particular station. I see security staff around station but not enough during early mornings aka 6AM which needed to be sorted. Nowadays i have to hide my personal belongings to make sure no one see them so likely chance i dont get robbed.

The station is not safe at all. There should be more people in security. You have to keep eye on your belongings. Please know that this station even has people that enter without ticket.

When you visit New Street station, it looks like more like a shopping center than a traditional railway station. You can walk kilometers always inside passing trough stores, restaurants, supermarket. With different exit you can easily reach a lot of place to visit starting from the station.
