    Palace of Arts
Once The Palace of Arts - exhibiting masterpieces from all over the world and now the art work comes on a plate, the world renowned Sunday roast. So good we travelled up by train for the pleasure. The value for money is great and the service is smiley and helpful. Top tip: get your kids one to share. It’s big enough for two. Outside, the park in which the brewery is situated is steeped in history and modern day usefulness. Plenty of fresh air, green grass and a play park for the children. Enjoy!

    A perfect Sunday lunch
Went as a party of 8, family lunch together including two children. Service was absolutely brilliant from the moment we sat down, the team couldn’t have been more attentive and friendly, especially the person who seemed to be our main server. Sorry I didn’t get your name but he was lovely and great with our niece and nephew. Food was exceptional, and with it being a brewery the choice of drinks is wide and also includes cocktails. Perfect Sunday lunch out!

    Not practical
Visited for the Trevor Nelson gig which was good . Couple of things no taxis were allowed to pull up to the venue so on arrival our taxi was stopped at the main gate by security. We had to walk up to the venue in the pitch black. No lighting around the lake area . I felt this was quite dangerous as it was pitch black. Arrived and scanned in fairly quickly. Headed to the bar on the left hand side of the venue. Paid £55.00 for two bottles of wine, after paying for them we were told there was no glass allowed in the venue and poured the wine into 4 flimsy plastic pint glasses. Had to ask for smaller glasses to drink out of. Made our way into the main hall where Trevor Nelson was performing. Couple of oil drums for tables but they were impractical . Vibration from the music made the drink slide off. Wine swilled everywhere and we were not prepared to spend another £55.00 quid. If they had told us this before we paid for the wine we would have just ordered individual drinks.

Battle of the burgers… battle for accessibility
Went to visit the first day of battle of the burgers 2024 and unfortunately after all the hype it’s really not worth it… we are not from the local area and one member of the party requires a mobility scooter for long distances. I had messaged on instagram, left voicemails and emailed to see what parking arrangements were like but with no responses ended up parking in a small car park about 10 minutes walk away. As there was no signage advertising the event or the venue we attempted to follow Apple Maps which led us to curbs with no dropped sections for the scooter. Once we eventually got to the brewery I had to try and work out who was staff to help find a ramp to get into the building rather than the front stairs. The family member in the scooter then had to wait alone while I went back to the stairs to queue for tokens. Tokens were £5 each for 1 burger, slider size. I understand food vans / food festivals are on the more expensive side but for the size of the burgers this was definitely extortionate. Most people paid on card so it wouldn’t have been any more akward to charge something a little less. The space to walk around the vans was small and compact, with dogs, pushchairs and our mobility scooter we just ended up going to any van we could get to rather than trying some we had hoped for. Queues weren’t organised so it was hard to tell who was waiting to order, who was waiting for their food and who was just standing about chatting. We didn’t even attempt any bars as it wasn’t worth it. The food we had was lovely and would definitely go to see those vans elsewhere but we won’t be back to Wylam brewery or any of the other food battles any time soon.

Fairly disappointing evening at a non 60s event
The Brighton beach event just recently was disappointing considering it was marketed as a Mod event! So far away from a Mod event. Around 5 Northern soul tunes at the beginning of the evening, which incidentally wouldn’t always be classed as such but usually played by people who’ve no clue! No 60s soul, just Brit pop and 60s Rock or for the most part, & DJs attempt at mixing was atrocious, lots of overlap of music which just distorted the sound! if 60s Hippy Rock, were classed as mod then maybe your in for a great night. Drinks on the dance floor spilled all over the floor plastic glasses strewn around and some thought it was great to throw drinks across the dance floor too, lots of loitering about which made it near impossible to bust any moves if anyone actual had any to bust! The sound wasn't much to be desired although I did see some button twisting going on in the sound box however it just made it worse by the obvious fact they had no clue! This event should just be marketed as a 90s throw back student night, because it was neither 60s nor mod! The fact that an image of 60s twiggy was used as part of the marketing as well as the Roundel was hugely misleading for those who were expecting a respectable mod evening! Or even a 60s event with some Brit pop thrown in would have been acceptable! I can’t recommend this evening to anyone on the basis it’s neither Mod nor 60s. And just so that you can see that at the beginning of the evening I’ve uploaded a picture of the stage which as you can see the backdrop is misleading to say the least.

Great venue but extortionate drink prices
Went for a 50th birthday party at a Martin Kemp 80's night. Excellent gig and excellent acoustics. Only one issue: paying £18 for 2 drinks - a pint and a glass of wine is extortionate and will stop me from returning. Very disappointing from a local company.

A great music venue only a few mins from city centre an impressive old building overlooking a lake and a decent size inside with a good size stage and a decent sound. However when you pay £30 for a bottle of Prosecco and they then pour it into two plastic pint glasses it’s a joke. Ok u don’t allow glass in the venue but can you not have some nicer glasses for wine and Prosecco? Also the queuing for the bars is ridiculous they definitely need more staff. Inside the actual room with the stage both the bars only had 2 people serving with long queues constantly forming. The gospel choir has been Sold Out for a while so they knew it was busy. Security seem to be happy sitting on their phones instead of stopping women going into the gents toilets. Overall a great venue but should Prosecco really be drunk from a cheap plastic pint glass?

We had booked Sunday Lunch for 1.00pm today for our Dads 86th birthday. We booked it well in advance for 13 people and ordered food a few days before.
We have regularly visited Wylam for lunch drinks etc and had always found it fine.
Today however was a total let down as we were told at 2.45 that we would have to leave the table at 3.00 pm for the next booking.
This would not have been a problem at all but the main course took about 35 minutes to arrive hence the lack of time left to order puds or coffees etc.
The manager almost blamed us for being late to the tables in the first place which we were not then told us we should have read the emails with the timings on.Again we had no reference of this.
He was unapologetic and clearly not concerned even though we had spent almost £400.00
We found his attitude unprofessional and rude and quite frankly probably won’t be returning.
Such a shame as it is a lovely venue.

Got tickets for new year after reading great views on the venue.
The walk from Claremont road through the park was like a skating rink and very dark.
1300 tickets had been sold which I thought were too many.
Main hall is beautiful and I must say I'd come again to see a band as long as it wasn't so full.
Bars in the main hall were quite small and 5 deep to get served, so we went to tent that served food and had beer also.
This was a better bet to get served but the condensation was pouring from the roof onto us.
We headed towards main hall at 11.45 and were expecting a countdown, there was a stampede for the doors just before midnight for the fireworks and people were blocking the doors so never saw a firework yet. Not a security guard in sight.
A bit disappointing really.

The venue itself was fine, a few bars to spread out the crowds wanting drinks and the retry swift ticket checking on entry. We went for a 90’s night, the DJs were terrible. The crowd were the right age for the event but a lot left early, disappointed by the music choices, the awful mixing and the insistence of introducing each new theme of music. I’ve never seen so many people standing on a dance floor, shrugging and shaking their heads at 11 o’clock! By the time the event finished at midnight the dance floor was half empty and the DJs actually got booed.

Visited on a Saturday evening and much of the venue was closed off due to a wedding. First I ordered a pint of Jakehead and Hickey the Rake. I believe the beers should've been at least a degree cooler, not ideal.
However, the wait times for food were ridiculous. I ordered two burgers and was given a 40 minute wait time. Over an hour later they still had not arrived and no concrete time could be provided for their arrival. I asked for a refund and was given it without question and left for town. For such a trek outside of the city centre Wylam really need to up their game both in terms of quality and service.
I gave two stars as the staff were very pleasant otherwise I would have awarded one.

Wylam Brewery is amazing! From the stunning building and surroundings to the tasty beer and food. What’s not to like.

We went for Sunday lunch as a couple meeting friends with children. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the Sunday lunch was lovely. The Yorkshire puddings are huge. Topped off lunch with one of the best porters out there - the macchiato.

The seating inside is great and there is also a lovely beer garden with toilets and a burger van.

If you are a beer lover and want to order anything to take away - they were really accommodating with us and let us order there and then whilst they boxed it up. The only problem is that it’s so easy to spend a lot of money on their amazing beers 🍻.

I’d 100% recommend Wylam brewery ❤️

Myself and 10 friends, all couples, attend the New Year’s Eve event and I was really disappointed! There were far too many people inside it was so overcrowded you literally could not get moved! The sound quality was horrendous my ears are still ringing now! The que for the bar was horrendous l qued for half an hour to be served, 3 behind the bar on such a busy night is not enough!! The prices for drinks was extortionate! The countdown was poor and the outside area was waterlogged! Very disappointed!! I think overall very poor planning and money greed.

Had wanted to visit for some time as we love their beers and heard the venue was good. We arrived on a Saturday lunch time to find the main building wax closed off for a wedding but we could use the Tap Room. No problem and it is a lovely room really tastefully furnished with loads of Wylem beers on tap and the wider drinks menu is very extensive . That’s really where the good news stops as we were then subjected to poorly trained staff who didn’t appear to care. There were loads of them too so it was quite odd. I gave them the benefit of the doubt to begin with that the wedding was a distraction but watching for a bit that didn’t appear to be the case . The food came after a long wait . A member staff informed us the chef had to go out for some missing ingredients. It was the start of the food serving time on what is a very limited menu so that seemed bad planning or just a poor excuse. The food finally arrived and the burgers were ok but nothing special , the fries to be fair were good and plentiful. The weird thing was they arrived in takeaway bags and cartons with disposable forks . So poor presentation and all that packaging waste . Very odd and disappointing for 2023. Final hiccup came when were tried to go to toilet to be advised that it was out of bounds due to the wedding but we could use the outside one. No running water, dirty with toilet paper all over, and pitch black when you closed the door . This is not a cheap place and is in a beautiful setting . Some decent management and staff training would make a massive difference. Would not be rushing back until then !

I went to see my favourite band Talisk and was really disappointed in the sound quality. You could only hear the main concertina, you couldn't hear the fiddle and guitar, no matter where I stood. Such a shame, I felt sorry for the band members as people were struggling to get into the music. I've seen them four times so I know this is an issue with the venue.
