The Shire Hall is now closed and awaiting a decision on its future. It used to house a small gallery and coffee house but unfortunately these have had to close until a decision is made on the future use of this building.

The art on display is really nice, the courtroom reenactment is brilliant. You get to choose where you want to sit and listen to the story. It's a massive shame that the council is closing it soon.

We visited Shire Hall gallery as a family to see a photographic exhibition. In addition to the exhibition it is possible to see the old law courts and there are various bits and pieces of information about infamous Stafford criminals. I didn't think that the exhibition would hold our autistic son's attention long enough for my husband to have a good look around so I spoke to the staff about their sensory room. The sensory room is perhaps more suitable for younger children, rather than my young adult son, but he happily spent half an hour exploring the room whilst my husband viewed the exhibition in peace. All of this was free of charge and the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout.

I went in to here without expectations and was pleasantly surprised by the art gallery showcasing local and national artists pieces. They also have other activities available for visitors throughout the year.
