Dr Johnson’s house is located adjacent to the market square and this statue is in the market square itself. Have walked past it on many occasions and probably because of the bustle of the market stalls, or even a fun fare- this is under recognised....More

The statue is a bit of a Victorian joke, but very skilfully sculpted. Complements the pensive if not dour Johnson on the other side of the Market square.
