Lovely cathedral
Jun 2021
The cathedral had been closed for the previous couple of days when we first arrived in Wells due to filming. On the day we did go in, some of the cathedral was still closed off which meant that we didn't get to see it all, however it is well worth a visit and beautifully majestic like all our British cathedrals.

Absolutely stunning
Jun 2021
For an atheist I love visiting places of worship. Wells cathedral is one of the best. The architecture is beautiful as is the history. I loved the clock with its quarter jacks and the stairs to the chancery are magnificent. We attended Evensong and, although not a believer, it was nice to see and hear.

Wonderful Wells
Jun 2021 • Couples
A stunning medieval masterclass. A beautiful cathedral nestled in England's smallest city.

This cathedral benefits from a double header visit with the stunning Bishops Palace Gardens next door.

A beautiful and interesting cathedral
May 2021
A beautiful cathedral. In the centre of the small cathedral city, easy to access with car parks nearby. A quiet serene atmosphere throughout, very picturesque and easy to capture from many angles with the large green area in front and walkways to the side. A surprise was the Wells Clock. An astronomical clock dating from the 14c. The knights riding around the top of the clock when it strikes the hour were surprisingly fast for my camera which was not set for a speedy shot. It is the second oldest surviving clock in England after the Salisbury Cathedral clock.
Unlike other significant cathedrals in England like Winchester at £9.95 there is no set entry fee so a reasonable donation is appropriate and appreciated. Very helpful staff on hand to answer any questions.

Small but beautifully built
Jun 2021
Beautiful building. Excellent renovation work. Simple to follow Pilgrims footsteps throughout the cathedral. Intact tombs that were not destroyed in the reformation.
Donations not entrance fee to visit.

Felt like I was in a Roman Basilica! My kids were afraid of the statues and grave stones?? But it was fine, they just put their hats over their eyes haha
