All the staff at The Stag are so lovely. We would recommend the nights where the kitchen team up with a local fishmonger to create a special menu

This place has just a nice feel about it these days. Staff are caring and knowledgeable as well as being a team supporting service. We have one win the party who is a real meat eater and another who is vegan, which creates lots of debates where to go and often a compromise, not in this case. Soups and Brie as starters. Mains were fish and chips, sausages and mash, vegan roast and chicken roast. Prompt service, food well presented, hot and tasty with good portions. Will definitely return and highly recommended. Couldn’t face pudding only because stuffed on the starter/main and needed sleep!

We went for Fathers Day, so obviously we expected it to be busy, but so should have they! Very understaffed, but the chap who served us was lovely. Quite a few of us ordered the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding - the former was so thinly cut and over cooked it was tasteless, and the latter was burnt black! We did complain straight away and we’re all provided with a fresh, unburnt one, but still... golden rule of cooking - don’t serve it burnt! So 1/5 for the food but 5/5 for the individual servers, poor buggers were very over worked, and I agree with other comments on here that there needs to be a “manager” present, especially on such busy days

I think what this place needs is a senior member of staff to oversee things it could and should be so much better. It is the little touches that enhance the experience that are lacking, we ordered scampi which boasted home maid tarter source, when it arrived they had run out! why were we not told when we ordered the meals. This is only an example of what disappointed us.
