Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great to continue the tradition of a Thursday/Saturday market. It’s under cover so no weather problem. Love the flower, cake, veg and fish stalls. Good fresh quality produce.

Lovely barn looking exterior opposite Tesco. Parking when the market is on can be tricky. Has a decent fruit and vegetable stall but that’s about it I’d say. More catered to older people (60+) in my opinion.

Penistone market is now housed in an open barn structure located between the high street and Tesco car park. There are only a small number of stalls but the regular traders work hard to keep things going. The clothing stalls offer good value on 'famous brands', the fruit and vegetables are always good quality and the fish stall is particularly good. There are a couple of vans which are worth a look - one for meats, cheeses and pies which I would strongly recommend. Also a very popular and nice quality jacket potato van.
The problem is that the market is housed in a barn type structure which feels dark and cold. When first built it didn't even have any sides (serious lack of understanding of Penistone wearther by whoever thought that up!). Now there are toughened glass panels to shield the wind, but it still feels dark and uninviting. It would be much nicer if a little money were put into having some attractive lighting, and maybe an upheater (and even dare I say a little music)
Given a lot of money has obviously been spent on the structure, it is a watse that it is not better used. There is a very small Saturday market (and monthly farmers markets) but other events at the market hall are few and far between, and no-one seems to think about this. Why not use it for festive events and promote it more
Also the council ought to think about the appearance for visitors. There is a lot of waste around the market area, and broken glass and rubbish on the approaches on the town streets which makes it very unwelcoming

Nice little market, under cover good cheap products. I bought a dog bed from the pet stall £10 for the biggest bed I've ever seen. Both our dogs fit on it and love it.

Small but good local market, in specially built barn like building. Usually a reasonable choice of good value stalls. Can get cold here on windy days.
