Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It may have been a damp drizzly day here today, but it was still much fun as well as full of interest to be had here today!

Half term brought lots of fun for the younger ones from craft activities to a trail map and to a handful of outdoor activities to use also.

For us older ones (and still the young ones too!) The history of this place was great too. Lots of information, lots of visual stuff too from the fully ladened table of food to clothing of the era also....all this for £4.95 (child payment only for the crafts) .

Credit to the staff too who were polite and helpful throughout. We will be back again when we will get to enjoy all their wonderful wild flowers which will be in full bloom also.

Go and take a look at this little gem!

We had my daughter’s wedding here on the 20th May this year. It’s a beautiful atmospheric open space setting amongst some fantastic wild flower beds. The staff are friendly and well organised they are very efficient but definitely not intrusive. After the reception we all took a short stroll down to Manor Oaks House for the reception. Catering supplied by Paula from the Rhubarb Shed Cafe was absolutely perfect, cooked to perfection and helped by her daughters and friends served to all our guests quickly and pleasantly. The quality of the food was way above all our expectations and this was verified by our guests several times during the evening. Many thanks to Natasha and crew who kept us all supplied with drinks and info all night and who always had a smile for everyone.. also many thanks to Vanessa who organised us all perfectly.
A wonderful day was had by all in a great atmosphere and I cannot thank you all enough for making our special day truly wonderful.
A great place to visit and a great place to get married totally recommend this place for your special occasion.
Well done and thank you all again.

DO NOT BOOK A WEDDING HERE.
We booked our big day in January 2022, since we have had no communication - not even a confirmation of the price of the booking.
Unfortunately, we have had to cancel our wedding and the ‘team’ have been less than no use. I have been passed from person to person, with not one promised call back taking place.

Nobody seems to know what they’re doing and they don’t seem to care.

We thought we were getting a bargain until we compared the package to other, established wedding venues. It has become apparent that we could actually get a much more complete package, with professional wedding hosts elsewhere for less. Staff have been hanging up on me, they have been rude and it’s quickly become a nightmare.

To say I am beyond disappointed is an understatement.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Having lived in Sheffield all my life I had never had a proper look around this site, I visited once many years ago and had a quick look around but since then the site has changed quite a bit. I decided to book on to one of the Sunday tours. For the cost of £3 for a tour I wasn’t expecting that much. Wow what a surprise, the lovely lady that took us round was very knowledgeable and gave us so much information, she seemed very
passionate about the place. A tour like that anywhere else would have cost much more and I came away feeling that I had been taken back in time! What an amazing day, keep up the good work!

We’ve lived in Sheffield all our lives and this is the first visit to Manor Lodge and Manor Castle. What a find. We booked to go on a guided tour and we’re so glad we did as it was so informative. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made it so interesting and after the tour she took us into a room where Bess of Hardwick was waiting to tell us her life story and answer any questions we threw at her. She was a brilliant actress, very funny and knowledgeable. There is also a family petting zoo to see after the tour and a cafe. I would highly recommend visiting Manor Lodge.

Manor Lodge really is a hidden gem. Mary Stuart was imprisoned here, and the displays and surrounding give you a really good idea of what it was like. The enthusiastic volunteers really make this place, and outside there is plenty to let your imagination run wild.
I have visited twice, and am looking forward to going again!

I visit at least once a month, there is always something going on, June 16th there will be an event on, on August 18th it is Tudor day, and in the school holidays it will be open for special events for the kids to enjoy.
I was there this week, June 5th for the wild flowers and poppies.

We had a lovely time in manor lodge I went with my son and daughter and my 3 grandchildren age range 3 to 12 it was my 70th birthday we all enjoyed although I lived in the area as a child and passed the lodge ever day to go school first time in the grounds and I was very impressed it is obviously an on going project but we had such a wonderful time and went to the rhubarb shed for lunch which was yummy though next time we will book it was full and we had to sit outside but was provided with blankets and we did take our little dog, well worth a visit and reading in the visitors centre was fascinating all about Mary Queen of Scots and beth of Hardwick I became a friend of manor lodge.
