This National Trust property is one which is ‘dressed for Christmas’. We’ve been before so were confident it would be good. It was. This year taking the theme of a Swiss Christmas as the most recent owners had Swiss family connections. It is charming and...More

We decided to go on the guided tour which only covered the ground floor, but were able to go round again to see the upstairs. Exit through the kitchen and taste the homemade biscuits!

Magical place with so much to see. Very helpful, friendly staff. The exhibition themed around favourite books was very well done. The views were wonderful.

The house is not large and with the upstairs and downstairs done, no more than 40 minutes. The walled gardens have interesting plantings, including a wisteria over 100 years old! Walks in the wood with busy kites flying over the copse

Overall a worthwhile visit to both house and garden that was home to a major industrialist from the past. Location is also a plus with wonderful scenery. Only disappointment is that cafe is using plastic disposable cups in the cafe for water.

The contents of the rooms could all be related to life over the past sixty years, but set in a building going back centuries.

This NT property is in a beautiful setting and they do timed tours of the house but you can go round the house at other times. The Cowshed is a tearoom with limited food options but perfectly adequate. The staff are generally very friendly although...More

Our visit was delightful, the property is charming and there is great attention to detail. The lady who did the tour of the property was informative and delightful including everyone, even the children in the information/discussion. The grounds are beautiful and facilities excellent. Highly recommend.
