The beautiful Grade II* Listed Delapré Abbey, just one mile from Northampton town centre, is entering an exciting new phase in its history. Following the success of a Heritage Lottery Fund application in 2013, a £7 million project has seen this once "Building At Risk" undergo substantial repair and restoration works over the last 3 years. The Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust worked with Northampton Borough Council to involve the community and volunteers in the restoration project with open days, education projects, and public events and activities. Now, the Abbey has opened its doors to the public for the first time in its 900 year history, with The Trust managing the building as a fantastic historic venue for local, national, and even international visitors. We can’t wait for you to explore the stories of Delapré Abbey’s past with us!

Had lunch at the cafe. Beautiful setting but would not return for the food. Watery coffee which we had to take back. Dry, doorstop sandwiches with minimal filling for £5. Such a shame when such a great deal of work has gone into the restoration...More

The Abbey has just reopened (May 2018) after going extensive renovation with a lottery grant to save it from demolition, and they have done a great job with it. Compared to most historic buildings, the entry fee is very reasonable - £6.36 for an adult,...More

The Abbey has been recently restored. The restoration has been sympathetically done and shows the history of the property in an interesting and imaginative way. The tour was wonderful. I can not recommend a visit highly enough. A credit to all those involved.

Delapre is in the process of going through a phase of refurbishment but this is nearly completed. The grounds are beautiful and the coffee shop has everything you want if you fancy taking a break. If it's been raining take suitable footwear as the grounds...More

I live within a quarter of a mile of the abbey and have been visiting the grounds for many years with my children. It's one of the nicer spaces in Northampton, and on a hot summer's day you'll see a lot of local people enjoying...More

We took a large group of people an a pre-booked tour with refreshments. The tour was very interesting and the guide most informative, the Abbey is well seeing now that the restorations have been compleated. But after the tour we were shoved into a barn...More
