This museum provides a fantastic few hours of entertainment and education for all the family. I especially liked the prison area and the sixties exhibition. This museum covers fashion, history, death, crime, toys, period furniture and an underground recreated street with numerous old fashioned shops,...More

When you see the Victorian Street they have recreated , your imagination will run wild!! A brilliant recreation of different eras , and there was a fantastic Vivienne Westwood shoe exhibit when we went, which blew my mind!! Bank on 4 hours.

Lots to see, very informative and reasonaby priced although being asked to make a donation of £1 on top of the entrance fee was annoying. Added bonus was Vivienne Westwoods shoe collection which was very interesting. Good gift shop and cafe also. Worth a visit.

We enjoyed our visit and the exhibitions but we were expecting it to be more about the York Castle rather than the 60’s and toys etc. Took about an hour to go around and is worth a look if you are in the area.

Be prepared for a lengthy visit as there is so much to see. There is a street set up as in Victorian times complete with cobbles and smells

Nice museum to visit to find out the history of this great place. The street area is very good and so realustic with smells and noise. Like being there many years ago. Was a good 3 hours to do the visit.
