The Italian Water Gardens are a nicer part of Hyde Park close to Kensington Palace. It is very restful, and right next to the Lancaster Gate subway station.

Beautiful ponds and fountains with Italian buildings. Lovely view down the long water towards the Serpentine and a nice place to sit and quietly people watch or stroll round. Ice cream van there on the day we visited.

This time the Italian Water Gardens were completely covered by thick snow but the fountains were still working! It was an amazing to see! The garden looked really pretty in her new white dress, which I have never seen before.

South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque
white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's
easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with
superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and
Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely
child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to
mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall)
such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming
