Tennis history at its best at Wimbledon
Sep 2021
I went to visit the museum and shop tour Sept 7th I am an avid tennis coach and player and had always wanted to visit Wimbledon. I arrived and security was very strict upon entry. Once inside we visited the shop and looked at all the items which was nice. Buy your items before your tour because the shop closes while the tour is going. We had a little time and visited the cafe and it was priced fair and had a large selection. The tour was limited to just center court which was very nice to visit and take photos. the guide was very nice and had worked there may years. The visit was worth the money.

An ace!

As tennis enthusiast we thoroughly enjoyed the 90 minute tour of the grounds and learning more about the history of the Wimbledon and all that goes into preparing for the tournament. Museum was interesting at the end of the tour.

Not to be missed tour and museum
Mar 2020 • Friends
Fantastic engrossing museum and a brilliant behind the scenes tour of the AELTC. A wonderful alternative when our other plans in London were cancelled due to Covid 19. The tour guide Ingrid was brilliant, and took us on an hour and a half visit round the site, after having been to the Championship last year this was a great way to see even more, I heartily recommend! The virtual reality in the museum was another highlight, but the whole thing is so well done and due to timing I didn’t even see all - will be back for sure. Such excellent value too.

Worthwhile Museum and Guided Tour

We signed up for a tour led by a very committed and engaging guide. The gift shop has some high-quality items priced quite reasonably.

Susan was an amazing tour guide!
Jan 2020 • Friends
My friend and I were given a tour of the Wimbledon tennis courts by Susan. What an amazing day it was seeing such an iconic sporting venue and getting to see the most important areas including centre court and the media centre. Susan was a fantastic tour guide - funny, knowledgeable and friendly. Would definitely recommend this tour. Thank you Susan!!

Excellent day out
Jan 2020
We visited yesterday 16th January 2020 and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Decided to drive on a Saturday as certain surrounding roads are free of charge all day and less than 5 minutes walk to the entrance. Arrived at 10am for refreshments at the Wingfield Café before the booked tour time of 11.30am. Isobel our tour guide was absolutely brilliant being very knowledgeable with a good sense of humour and the 90 minutes just flew by after being shown many familiar areas seen on TV during the championships including Centre and No1 Court. Was astounded to see that every seat in both showcase courts each had their own individual seat covers placed over them while not in use. We were also shown and explained to about the very hard work by the grounds men that goes into looking after the hallowed turf.
The Museum was incredibly interesting and flowed into each section with ease having spent in excess of 2 hours enjoying all it had to offer. The café was clean bright and spacious and the food was to a high standard and priced accordingly. Every member of staff whether security at the gate, café, museum or gift shop were polite and very welcoming.
Our thanks to all members of staff involved for such a great day.

You don’t need to be a tennis aficionado to enjoy the superb tour including unique behind the scenes access
Dec 2019
I was excited to do a tour of The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. I had booked my slot online ahead of time which I felt was rather steep at £25. It’s not the easiest place to get to, but can be done by tube and then bus which drops you off right at the door. After a quick security search I was in and went to explore the Museum before the tour started.

The Museum is not huge yet is a variable treasure trove of objects presented in a very user friendly manner. The history of the sport is explained and its croquet roots as well as the history of the club and The Championships. It’s a source of endless random facts which are good to have up your sleeve and naturally its all very British. I particularly enjoyed the Dress Circle showing the evolution of the ladies dress and featuring iconic outfits of all the greats including the Williams sisters. There are also mens outfits including those of Murray, Nadal and Federer. Of course it’s a treat to see up close The Ladies and Gentlemen’s Singles Championship Trophies and feel you’re so close to such historic and significant icons.

Kitted out with my Wimbledon lanyard it was time to start our tour led by a Blue Badge guide (if you’re not aware this means they are the best guides you can get). Now a handy tip: Just a few steps up from where the tour starts there’s the cafe and it’s not a bad idea to pick up a tea or drink before you’re taken around. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Of course Wimbledon is world renowned and it’s pretty cool to say you’ve seen it including the behind the scenes areas. You don’t need to be a tennis aficionado to enjoy the tour. I do have a particular interest in sports and found it amazing to see all the different players areas and facilities for example right down to a Nail Bar!

Seeing No. 1 and Centre courts of course are highlights. The Wimbledon Green Wall on the No. 1 Court stadium is impressive. Great fun to see the legendary Aorangi Terrace AKA Henman Hill or Murray Mound. See No. 18 Court which hosted the longest tennis match in history. It was cool to see inside the Broadcasting building including the BBC studio in particular with the Sue Barker touches and even to take a seat in the main Interview Room where the guide kindly offered to take pictures which was a great touch.

The guide did an amazing job, was personable, professional and fun. As always it’s the anecdotes that make it. Time flew. I was quite surprised by how small many of the court areas are and how little viewing space there really is. Equally I was impressed by the whole presentation of the venue.

I would recommend a visit and the tour and thought it was an extremely interesting and fun thing to do.

A definite when visiting London

Easy to get to by train and walk from station. A very informative and fun tour with lots of interesting facts and photo opportunities. Do not miss the museum - it is a must as is the virtual reality tour. Tour and museum are well worth the inexpensive cost.
