Neighbourhood: Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighbourhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.

    Cool experience
We had a very interesting visit to the Clink Prison Museum! Lots of information on various signs about the history of the prison and this part of London in ancient times. Not suitable for easy-to-scare kids, but for ours (11 and 8) it was fine. Very nice staff, even speaking German. There also is a quiz for kids, which made it even more interesting for them.

    Highly Recommended
My family (myself, husband, 14 year old, 12 year old) visited the museum and enjoyed ourselves. There is a lot of information and sights to see. You can even try some of the torture methods that were used! I highly recommend this museum; I learned a lot. I also felt this was appropriate for my kids to see. The person who was working was awesome; he was informative, friendly, and interacted with my kids. I highly recommend this museum.

    Fun times
This was a fun little experience to do. Mostly walking around and reading plaques with the history of England and it’s prison system. They had some really cool visual set ups a well. It is relatively short but can be longer depending on how thorough you are with reading everything. Has a fun activity for kids throughout the museum to keep them engaged! Overall great experience, and handle the torture equipment at your own risk!

    Short and Sweet
Quite a small attraction and will maybe only take around 30 - 40 mins to get around, but great value really for the £8 entry fee (1 adult). Its mainly little boards to read up on with mannequins dresses up to depict the gruesome history of the gaol. But there are also quite a lot of torture devices / restraints around that you can handle and use to tie up your mates with for photos etc! There's even a free photo booth at the end in a cell. Worth the money and an interesting little time waster.

    Fun family friendly museum!
Quirky and unique take on history. Lots of information and great for kids. Plenty of props and activities to keep children and adults occupied. Defiantly worth a trip to get out of the London heat!

    Unique museum in London
I visit here every time I go to London. You can hear the singing audio from outside. It’s a small museum, but there’s loads packed inside. I got spooked by actual people in there who I thought were mannequins! You can even get a free photo behind bars and there’s a little gift shop.

    Best part of the day!
2 nephews (aged 6 & 9) and a full day of 'London' experiences - "What was your favourite bit?" I asked "The PRISON!!!" they shouted in unison... Great value experience with enough interesting facts and stories to keep both the kids and the adults entertained. The boys loved the torture & the gore & finding the furry rats for a lolly at the end - they wanted to go back in as soon as we'd left - def. recommend!

    Fantastic value for money
What a fantastic historical experience. Having just come out of a Tower of London visit this compliments that experience too This is a museum and not an actual prison. It does however graphically illustrate and explain what life would have been like in the actual prison (which used to be very close by). It allows a hands on experience as a prisoner with all the methods of torture! It also has great descriptions of life as a prisoner. It was also fantastic to hear the London accent of Claire behind the counter. She took time to talk to us and really enhanced our visit

    It is what it is
Looks good, nicely set up but way to much reading for me. Would like to see more torture equipment. Was short but as it's not expensive what would you really expect. I would recommend it's worth a visit on your passing. I wouldn't choice to go again but would go if someone I was with wanted to have a go. There is a nice photo opportunity at the end.

A Chilling time in Londons Clink!!!
Firstly £8.00 each for a London Attraction is Incredible and £2.00 for a Museum brochure is great aswell. We really enjoyed our visit and if you take your time and read the info on the exhibits it'll take at least an hour. You will get an insight into Londons dark underbelly with its Criminals, Murderers and Executioners. The gent at admissions and the lady in the shop were friendly and helpful. Dont forget your free downloadable photo from behind bars and watch out for the Rat Man!

Having wanted to visit here for years, finally I went. The Clink did not let down at all.
The entry cost is one of the lowest I know (£8.80 Adult). Totally worth this and possibly even more. A very interesting museum, to see the history and the awful conditions that prison inmates were forced to be in. It’s also good to be able to touch the exhibits, sit in them and handle them.
There is also a chance to have your photo taken, this is free and given a ticket to a link so can download at home, this is free.
Highly recommended and definitely worth a vid it if your in London.

Fantastic find - loved it. Went with fiends & had a very enjoyable time learning what dreadful conditions & circumstances people then had to endure. All in the name of religion too!!

Great little museum that we stumbled upon by accident when walking around the Borough Market area. Very reasonable entry fees. Really interesting to look around. You could even try some of the torture devices! They were so heavy, I hate to think what they felt like to have to wear all that time ago...
It would make a great educational visit for children too. Unfortunately we forgot to do the free photo bit at the end that is included with the price I believe. There is a nice selection of Clink themed gifts.

Loved all the history. This is definitely for history geeks like myself. I took my teenage daughter too and there was enough to keep her interested. Absolutely loved the photo at the end.

I went to this as wanted something interesting to do for an hour before a show and this was a really lovely museum. It is very well themed and the exhibits were well maintained. Lots of information to read but it was generally interesting and I learnt a few bits. There are pieces that can be touched and held which helps the story. My only downside would be sometimes the info boards order didn't quite make sense but that won't put me off bringing the missus when in the area.
