As you can tell by the title, we stopped here to see the ruins of the Roman arena in the basement. While there's not much there, the archaeologist who was down there made it all come life with his talk. I'm not sure if he's...More

Visited primarly to see the outstanding collection of Victorian Art, but there's more besides including paintings which capture London's past and changing temporary exhibitions too. The bonus is the Roman Amphitheatre which was discovered when the gallery was rebuilt in the 1980s - the remains...More

We primarily visited here to find a painting listed in 1001 paintings you must see before you die: Leighton's The Music Lesson. We found that quickly but the rest of the gallery is a gem as well - I especially enjoyed seeing such a range...More

Interesting art, roman ruins underground. A nice surprise whilst wandering about London. Given the pricey location, a relief for the wallet!

Wondering through the magical streets of London - I came across the beautiful Guildhall buildings/ Yard. I spent the time taking photos from the outside, and discovered the Guildhall Art Gallery. I am not particularly an avid Art fan, although a free gallery is always...More

Really enjoyed visiting the gallery and on a Saturday morning the area is so quiet with little traffic. Some very good paintings on display and it’s free. The added bonus of the Roman Amphitheater was a surprise even though I’m a Londoner. Don’t miss this...More

An unexpected find whilst planning a visit to St Paul's and looking at what else was around the area. Lovely buildings around a very large courtyard, so peaceful, it was a real tonic to the noise of the rest of London. It is free to...More

I revisited here to see the temporary exhibition having been to the permanent one several times. This is a very nice gallery with lots of fine figurative London and Victorian paintings as a speciality. Plus the Roman Amphitheatre.
