This isn’t a big collection, but it’s really good that the paintings aren’t crammed together like in quite a lot of galleries. The curator has grouped them in themes, like Travel or Love. Admission is free, which is always welcome. The gallery is easily accessed...More

To be honest I was a little disappointed as there wasn't as much art on display as I had been expecting. We arrived late morning and started to look round and then decided we ought to go for lunch (no café there, and we ended...More

Other reviewers have suggested their visits lasted 1 - 2 hours, which we think is about right, depending on what exhibitions are available when you visit. Our exhibition 'Seen and Heard: Victorian Children in the Frame' runs until 28th April 2019, if you would like...More

On the recommendation of friends we came here principally to see the remains of the Roman amphitheatre. For a Saturday afternoon it was surprisingly and thankfully quiet. The art gallery is not the largest but it does have items relating to the history of London....More

The Guildhall is not one of the top 10 tourist attractions so the galleries are not over-populated or crowded out with schooltrips - therefore, you can view at your own pace and enjoy a marvellous Victorian selection, maps, a history of London and, probably best...More

Really great place in the heart of London ( just next to the City and very close to Tower of London) and full of it's history. The free guide tours are must and will give you more information of London history. From the Victorian classic...More

Researching places to visit near to our City hotel we thought this gallery sounded interesting. Wow, what a small but perfectly formed display of great paintings. We visited the fascinating Roman remains of the amphitheatre in the basement. Outside in the square the exhibition about...More

This is a great little gallery! There is a lot of Victorian-era and Pre-Raphaelite art on display, and it is never crowded. Be sure to head down to the basement to see the foundations of a Roman amphitheater! Like MOST museums in London, this is...More

The art collection is interesting but what’s unique in London is the roman remains of the Amphitheater in the basement - and it’s all free!

I have visited three times and the gallery is never busy- spacious and a relaxed atmosphere, no crowds or queues. But a shame if it is not better known - it deserves lots of visitors. Permanent collection of mostly 19th century paintings with occasional exhibitions....More
