Beautiful Victorian cemetery near to Hampstead Heath. Highgate Cemetery has some of the finest funerary architecture in the country. It is a place of peaceful contemplation where trees, memorials and wildlife flourish.

Then this is one of the best . The East one is good(you go around yourself), the West one you have to take the tour (approx 80 mins) so you only see a small portion but what you do see is excellent with a very...More
My husband and I had been told to visit Highgate Cemetery by a friend and we are so glad we came. We did the tour of the west cemetery where our guide, Julia, was a font of knowledge. She was extremely engaging and full of...More
We had a brilliant afternoon at Highgate, we met our guide Peter Mills, he was very knowledgeable, interesting with a light approach. We went around the West cemetery which is guided only. A beautiful and serene atmosphere. The East is not guided. I recommend this...More

I really wanted to visit this cemetery due to some pictures I had already seen, I must confess the pictures don't do this place justice; it is incredible, interesting and surprising. Try booking a tour, it lasts around one hour and is very enlightening. The...More
Steeped in history, the tour was very interesting . Tour guide informative, with a great sense of humour. Surprisingly not well signposted in Highgate Village but it’s a 5 mins walk downhill. Suggest Archway tube station after as it’s nearer.
We had the most amazing tour of the Highgate West Cemetery today. Not many people would choose to walk around a graveyard on a freezing cold November afternoon, but our pre booked tour exceeded expectation. Steeped in history, atmospheric and incredibly informative. Visiting the catacombs...More

The cemetery is divided into East and West sections. The East section is open to the public, but also offers occasional guided tours. The West section is ONLY open via a guided tour conducted by an official Highgate volunteer. You can book these tours via the website or at the onsite ticket office. We took the West section guided tour and it's definitely worth the time and cost.
