I hesitated to go on the West cemetery guided tour, because you can go for much cheaper in the East cemetery, but finally the tour was really worth it! The guide was very knowledgeable, and I enjoyed this West cemetery better than the East, because...More

Fascinating insight into Victorian Burial practices. Tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and informative. Guides are volunteers, very enthusiastic as are their colleagues who tend to the grounds. A good place to visit.

We booked a tour of the West Cemetery via the cemetery’s website. This included entry into the East Cemetery also. We began our day in the West with a guided tour, the only way visitors are allowed to see this side of the cemetery. We...More

Beautiful cemetery, peaceful and it's history is extremely important. The paid tours we dont understand as a cemetery is not a tourist attraction or should be used for such. Visitors should be allowed to visit if they wish and not for the cemetery to charge...More

Thank you for your review, and I hope I am able to address the points that you raise. Highgate Cemetery is and has always been a private cemetery - this means that we do not receive any government funding. Due to the age of the...More

Surprisingly, they charge an entry fee (£4 in August 2018) but I suppose it must cost a lot to keep up. Obviously, everyone knows Karl Marx is buried there, plus Malcomb McLaren and lots of other famous names - took about 3 hours and that...More

A trip to a cemetery may not seem like an ideal afternoon out but no so with a trip to Highgate. Our guide Richard was bursting with knowledge and passion for the history of such beautiful surroundings. The Victorian gothic architecture is stunningly beautiful, I...More

We were toured around the West Cemetery by Nick, an exceptional tour guide. He brought the cemetery to life (no pun intended) and his enthusiasm for the place was infectious. If you go, book into the tour of the West Cemetery first; you get entry...More

I believe so, though if you speak to someone at the gate, I would imagine they'd be accommodating. The price to ender the East side is around 4-8 pounds, from what I recall.
