Visited on a Friday evening with two pre-schoolers (interesting parenting) looking for somewhere to eat. There was a nice atmosphere in the area and loads of places to choose from. We ended up on Ganton Street, and had a great meal before wandering off again.

It's safe and clean. Easy to reach by tube or bus. Restaurants, bars, shops, nightlife, and a great vibe. Great way to just kill an afternoon or evening.

This place is so lively, so colorful. Lots of little shops, restaurants, people on streets. I was there a Saturday evening, I enjoy the liveliness of the area. If you alone or a couple, get your self lost in streets of Soho. Worth to try.

I don't think there are any shops that sell dates, the dried fruit you are talking about I guess?! I would suggest finding a Holland and Barrett health food store or large supermarket.
