We had been to Leicester before but never to the market. A lovely space, sheltered but open and very clean. Fruit and veg looked fresh and vibrant. Also looked in at the Food hall which is a separate building. Fresh meat and fish and deli...More

We managed to get to this place when in town for a couple of nights. It’s great to see that there are still some traditional markets around, selling fresh fruit & vegetables rather than knick-knacks & cheap goods. Even though we were constrained for space,...More

Couldn't go past the Market , had to go in . Great displays of fruit , and some great fish . Shame we would have had to carry it all around with us

Visiting the market today it didn't seem to be at its vibrant best - and we couldn't find everything we went looking for. For the amount of money that has supposedly been spent the market area is not that aesthetically appealing - perhaps future plans...More

Brilliant market, ranging from the end-of-the-day pound a bowl offers to the lovely, quality food of the special food hall. Much improved space now the indoor market has been knocked down. Beyond food you can also get some everyday items, CDs, clothes, everything really. Great...More

Living up north, the good old markets seem to be dying out so I really enjoyed my stroll round Leicester market this week. Loads of different stalls selling everything from food to clothes to cds etc. Pretty much something for everybody. Lots of banter from...More

You realise how much you are overcharged at supermarkets after you have been here- it must be one of the largest fruit and veg markets around and, other than the odd dodgy avocado, the quality is pretty good. Plenty of choice as well, with lots...More

The famous Leicester Market is the place to go for high quality products whether it’s for meat and vegetables for Sunday lunch or a pair of jeans. Traders banter beats supermarkets and there’s somewhere to get a beer, coffee, lunch, etc. Highly recommended

I always look forward to visiting this market, one of the best ones I have gone to, so much variety, can get a little busy but I think this adds to the atmosphere.

Monday to Saturday but different stalls are on different days. The Market website has a traders directory if you want something specialised.
