The museum boasts of some magnificent specimens from the time. Not a huge museum but it will take up at least an hour of your time and pique your interest about the town that presumably still remains vastly un-excavated till date. The souvenir shop has...More

Very accessible museum, in every sense. Spacious car park adjacent to museum and Verulamium park. Fascinating story of ancient and Roman Britain, organised by topics. If visiting with children, it is probably worth contacting in advance to see if there are any planned live events.

There are a large number of Roman artefacts all very well presented and described with interactive activities which would be particularly appealing to children - witnessed by the large number of school parties when we visited.

A really great, small, museum in a new-build with hints of the Roman style. The exhibits range from hair pins in drawers hold many small objects to room reconstructions complete with frescos. Enough to keep one engaged for a couple of hours. I usually go...More

Plenty of Roman artefacts dug up and available to look at. Good variety of items and very informative. Great mosaics. Replica Roman rooms were a bit confusing, and layout of museum could be improved if there was more of a logical flow. Would definitely come...More

Verulamium was one of Britain's largest Roman communities in the first century CE, and as such, it offers a rich site for archeological discovery. The Verulamium Museum is tucked into a corner of the Verulamium Park in St. Albans. It is a fantastic little museum,...More

This museum is well worth the small hike up to it from the centre of town. There are a few cases displaying artefacts of the tribe that lived in this area before the Romans arrived, and were already highly influenced by Roman culture. The main...More
