Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Based on good reviews, we visited here on Saturday afternoon. We can simply say that this is a fantastic local. The beers were well kept & there was plenty of choice. Prices were old-fashioned at ÂŁ3 a pint & we can thoroughly recommend to all ale fans, as well as any sports lovers.
The staff were the best part of this pub though. Really welcoming & helpful & although we don't live in the area, we will certainly return ASAP. The food looked cheap too, but we did not try. Next time we will..

This is a great find, if you like good ales and a cozy feel, then this is the place. Not many proper pubs like this left these days. Real fire too. Love it. Only downside can be service, far too much mobile phone use by bar staff, you would be better off texting your order on occasions. Shame.

Great selection of real ales, plus always having London Pride & ESB on. Interesting selection of bottled lagers to try. Good night had by all. Fantastic landlord who can belt out an old tune on request.

Great pub. Closed last night prior to Punch Tavern needing to do a restorstion job -- it is a tad shabby

Landlord Bob Beech has retired. Alas! Cannot see a managed Welly offering a choice of 11 real ales.

Its a real nice pub with a decent landlord and staff. They have a wide selection of ales and some real nice ones too. Its a nice building and nicely decorated in true fashion of a pub should be. Its one of few pubs you can go in southampton thats not full off ..... and you don't get staird at as you walk through the door. Also its a very friendly pub that doesn't charge a arm and a leg for there drinks and offers a fair price of there nice selection of beers. Defenlty with out any doupt, If you go there it won't be your last visit. If your looking for a good pub but not interested in the noutent mile GO HEAR.

Love this is pub so much. Landlord is brilliant and they have great music playing all the time. The regular patrons of the pub are very welcoming and it has a great traditional pub feel. Open fire in the winter and such an amazing selection of real ales that change every couple of days, and a great choice of continental lagers! I've been to the quiz on a Thursday which was such great fun, the landlord is the quiz master and it's not to be missed!
Cannot sing this pub's praises highly enough! We need more pubs like this!

It’s traditional for restaurants here to offer a Sunday roast plate. You just pick the protein. I had the chicken and my husband had the beef. Both were amazing. Best Sunday roast ever!

Popped in to have a couple of beers and a meal. It was St Georges day beer festival so only doing a hog roast that night that we didn't fancy. However, stayed for a couple of pints, excellent range of good beers and well kept.
Would come back to try the food another time.
