Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I've found this park to be good for children of all ages . If you want somewhere to just sit and watch the world go by its good for this to . It hold events throughout the year and is well maintained.

This park was at one time very neglected and so was not a very pleasant place. With a grant from the Heritage Lottery fund volunteers have created a space which is now an attractive place to visit, with tennis courts, a large open sports area, a kids play area with zip-wire, a garden walk and an excellent café. It is so gratifying to see how many people use it now.

We regularly go to this gem of a park just off Winchester Road, Southampton. I remember being walked over there in days of old from the Old Children's Hospital to give you some fresh air whilst in recovery as a child. It was good then but now it is even better.
With an infusion of money from the national lottery this park has been transformed into a fenced off, exciting raised play area for children, this includes slides, nets, bridges.play houses, swings , zip wire, wobbly bridge and much more. In this fenced off area away from dogs, there is ample room for ball games etc and picnics.
Yet there is still ample room away from this for dog owners to walk their dogs, and football games to take place along with various events during the year.
The tennis courts are there for the energetic as is the gym area.
For those who want to sit there are plenty of benches around the park.
The addition of a cafe into the park has really transformed the place for me. It is airy and on sunny days the large windows open. The prices are very reasonable for drinks and even light lunches. oh and of course ice creams.
Only downside in the playpark is that in the 'old' play area there was one entrance in , there are now six gates. If the area was still flat this may have worked but for parents with two or more children in an area that is now raised you cannot watch all exits as you cannot see over the mounds.
However I still rate this park as the best this side of town.

Cafe staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. The only smiles were directed to a puppy, which got stroked and petted; however the staff member did not wash her hands after touching the puppy, just carried on clearing up the tables. Also a small child who needed the toilet was turned away because staff were about to lock it at exactly 5pm. That was unkind.

I enjoyed a play in this park because it is very fun and has bamboo trees that you can play in. It also has a very fun slide area but the reason I gave it only 4 stars is because the cafe sometimes can’t cook all the hot meals (because of staff illness) and the outside toilet smells a bit bad and isn’t particularly pleasant to go to the toilet in but except for that I think it is an amazing park that has an amazing field to play sport in and a spacious park to play in. Every time I go there I enjoy it a lot and I hope that other people do too.

I remember watching the park being rebuilt with lottery funding and genuinely thought it was a waste of money. I was totally wrong. The park is amazing, it has brought together the community. Park Life run free events on the main green area (all of which are free), Fairs run by local scout groups, Doggy days with comps for best waggy tail etc.
There is a play area for very young children, alongside an area for older children and you also have the adults exercise area.
Table tennis tables, tennis courts and also a fabulous cafe.

The park has a nice café, located near to the younger children's play area, so parents can relax and watch their children playing. There are areas for older children to play on a zip wire and other equipment, as well as a large grass area for ball games or dog play. The area is used a lot by dog owners. The younger children's play areas is fenced, so dogs can't get into the playground. There are often special events held in the park, so it is worth looking out for these. There are also tennis courts which are well used.
