Had a great visit to Fort Nelson. Fort itself is very interesting but with the addition of all the exhibits and information regarding military history of the period plus artillery pieces and tunnels, something for everyone. If you park in the old car park opposite...More

Great museum, lots of interesting exhibits with lots of information. The fort has been really well restored and maintained and it is a fascinating place to visit. Not to mention that it’s all free entry! Keep up the good work.

In short this is a 19th Century fort which forms part of the defensive network protecting Portsmouth harbour and which now houses the Royal Armouries collection of artillery pieces ranging from medieval through to 20th century. There is plenty to see here. The accommodation block...More

Went for the first time because of the amazing poppy wave, but would go back. Lots to see, and lots to learn about and it's free! You just pay to park.

Beautiful display, guns etc interesting. Cafe a big disappointment 😞 Lack of choice in cakes, only meat sandwiches left apparently they had been busy! Expensive for what it was. Free entry to the fort but you paid for the car park.

Fort Nelson is quite simply an amazing place. If you're interested in history it is fascinating, if you're interested in military history then you'll be blown away (excuse the pun). The day wasn't long enough; we spent nearly seven hours there! There is so much...More

I’m not a war or battle person but this museum was amazing. There were displays showing what the fort looked like in the 1800s and detailed information as well as access to the underground area. Would be a great for families. I found it very...More

Many thanks for your question - as previous answers have indicated unfortunately you cannot see the sculpture from the car park. The tip of it can be seen from a public footpath to the north of the Fort however if that's of... More

Hi - many thanks for your question. The museum itself is free admission, however we have had to invest heavily in our car parking facilities to cope with the demand for 'Poppies: Wave'! Therefore there is currently a £3.00... More
