I wanted to email but there is no contact so unfortunately have to post here. I went on Thurs 21 July 2020 in the evening in a party of 6. I hate to complain but am so disappointed. It was a chance for myself to introduce my new partner to my grown up daughters and their friends. I haven’t been for a couple of years and was daydreaming of the beautiful, juicy, home cooked burgers. The food took a long time to come out and when it did, the burgers for myself and my partner were appalling. Dry, hard and black on the edges. It was hard trying to flag down the staff for drinks or food. Luckily the other meals were ok. It took ages to get the bill as the lady at the front of the house was giving so much attention trying to entice 2 guys into the place, who didn’t even come in. This was the last straw. I didn’t complain at the time as I didn’t want to make a fuss on an evening which was supposed to be fun for my guests. All I could do was not leave a tip. If I was the manager, I would want to know about the awful food - it really was not fit for consumption. It’s very sad as it’s a fun place but I would not eat there again. I’m also completely frustrated that there was no contact email so I could email this privately to the manager for him to resolve.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review Mel. I'm really sorry to hear about your negative experience with us. We pride ourselves on providing great food, and it's sad to hear we couldn't live up to expectations on this occasion. If you could drop us a line at info@sixtymillionpostcards.com we'd love to make this right. Best, Jack

Our daughter and 4 friends planned an end of term weekend in Bournemouth prior to starting University ( 2 of them actually to Bournemouth Uni) She thought 60 Million postcards looked fun so booked it on line. On arrival she stated her and her boyfriend were 17 and had no intention of drinking but the other 3 were all over 18 and showed ID. The staff were quite rude to her and said they could not eat there without a 'guardian '. She quite rightly pointed out that their website does not say this ! None of their group was drunk or rude and she rung us up quite upset. I rang the restaurant spoke to a ' manager' explained that this was a much looked forward to weekend and that in no way were they attempting to break the law. I said that if they wanted to impose such arbitrary rules they should make that very clear on their website. He rather condescendingly said ok they can take up their booking but NONE of them can drink. I phoned our daughter back but she said she had been very upset with their rudeness that they no longer wanted to return. Consequently they had to get a take away as everywhere was booked out. So WELL DONE 60 million postcards for spoiling their evening !

Hi John, thank you for your feedback and I am very sorry for how this was dealt with. We do have guidelines when it comes to having under 18's in our bar venue without a responsible adult, which is why our door staff do ask everyone for ID on the door for Friday and Saturday nights, and I totally agree with you, this does need to be included somewhere on our website, or some form of communication from ourselves, so I will be looking into this to see what we can do to improve it. Once again, all I can do is apologise on what happened and it was a miscommunication on our part. James

Comfortable seating, reasonable music, seemed quite clean, that’s everything positive about this place.

After sitting down and being ignored by staff for quite some time we noticed a scan code on the menu for ordering food and drinks. After trying to use it for nearly 20 minutes, then discovering you need 2 step verification (so have 2 phones with you linked to the same email address), hubby gave up and had to go to the bar to order. Definitely not table service. The app even prompted for a service charge to be added, what a joke, glad it didn’t work.

ÂŁ12.50 for a pint of standard beer and glass of house rose wine, expensive drinks.
.
I ordered the half rack of ribs, was served a pathetic 4 tiny ribs (see photos), of which 2 weren’t edible because they were so tough and sharp, seemed like freezer burn, yuck! Even the smallest piglet has more than 8 ribs bigger than the ones I was served. Perhaps it was cat ribs! The chips and bbq sauce were ok fortunately.

Hubby had a burger with cheese and bacon in it, and gravy poured over it, it was so salty he struggled to eat it, gave up half way through. I tried some too, and agreed, definitely way too much salt. Such a soggy mess as well, impossible to pick up to eat. We expected the gravy to be over the beef in the burger, and the bun dipped in gravy then toasted.

We had no check back, and apart from letting me know where the toilets were and putting our food on the table, no interaction with staff whatsoever. Pity there were no staff attending to customers, as you would expect in a restaurant, the place was very empty (see photos), once we ate we realised why!

There’s so many good places with lovely food and great customer service to eat in this area I am surprised this place is still open.

Don’t think of taking your family for dinner here either, no under 18’s after 7pm. I can only presume the positive reviews here (which unfortunately swayed us into trying this place) must be by staff or their friends/family, so disappointing.

We went here on recommendation on our first ever trip to Bournemouth. We arrived, outside was busy.. but they had a table inside. Fine by me, if anything better as inside was empty so less risk. Ordered food and drinks on the app, they came promptly, but not too fast. Portions were insanely huge, all food was tasty and so good for the price! The only hiccup we had was, my boyfriend ordered Camden Pale Ale.. he orders this everywhere we go. He had the first one and said it smelt and tasted funny. But he assumed that it was because it was the first one out possibly or it was the glass that smelt funny from the dishwasher - it happens sometimes. He ordered a second (for which I did call him stupid to order it again if something was wrong with the first) but he did, and it was the same. My boyfriend NEVER sends anything back and is generally not a fussy person at all, therefore I knew it must have genuinely bad (after all he did drink the first one through gritted teeth). It was just the way they was a bit funny about him mentioning there was something wrong and the person behind the bar tasted some from the pump in a mostly frothy shot glass in front of him and just said “tastes like IPA to me”. Perhaps they get some people order it and complain it’s horrible, not realising it’s an IPA or something. They did replace it with a different one.. but it was just the way it was handled.

Hi Sophie! Thanks for the great review and your feedback! Apologies about the Camden Pale, I think it may have been a new barrel stuck on so I can see where you're coming from, but we'll definitely have a look into this! I apologise on the way it was handled, we'll be sure to feedback to the team that there is another way to approach these situations. We hope you enjoyed your visit to Bournemouth and would love to welcome you back on another visit! James

We called the establishment informing them we were going to be 5 minutes late to our booking. We greeted people we knew on a completely separate booking on a different table (note we did not come with this group it was a coincidence that we knew each other) the manager then said as this was a double booking of more than 6 people (even though it was only 4 people we actually booked for from the same uni household) we weren’t allowed to enter. We politely explained to the manager how we were two separate tables under two different bookings however due to his unwillingness to understand the situation he felt the need to refuse entry.

60 million please note you claimed it was against government guidelines for us to enter in our group of 4 because we knew another table. Please do us all a favour and take a read of the government guidelines online rather then enforcing your own assumed guidelines, I can provide a link and I think you’d find it rather informative.

Hi There, We are applying rules about multi table bookings but also recognise that coincidences do happen so it would be unusual for our host to reject a party on this basis alone. I would however like to look into it further, so if you could email info@sixtymillionpostcards.com with details. I will indeed do that. thanks, Rich

We booked a table on Sunday 18th for 2 for drinks. The place only had 3 staff working so they were under pressure but so polite and informative. We were served by Matt who was extremely welcoming and upbeat, chatty, helpful, friendly. Considering how short staffed they were the service could not have been better. Also the assistant Manager was also very welcoming greeting customers and asking them to be patient in difficult circumstances. Keeping customers informed like this is all it takes to keep them happy. Particularly well done Matt.

Hi Sarah! Thank you for your lovely review and we are so please to hear that you have a great experience with us! Although we try to avoid being short-staffed as much as possible - sometimes its just unavoidable! Matt and the team definitely smashed it out of the park on Sunday - they will be thrilled to read your kind words! We hope you visit us again soon :) Amara

Me my wife and my 18-year-old son were denied entrance by miserable male bouncer.
The place was empty and the bouncer was overly excited about not letting us in!
We walked back past 60 million postcards an hour later and it was still empty.
This is the second time it’s happened and we have heard numerous other stories of this same male (hulk hogan) bouncer denying people access to a nice little bar.

He must be killing the bars profits in these very uncertain times.
Overzealous and unnecessary behaviour.

Hi there, thanks for leaving us a review. May I ask for you to drop us an email explaining what this bouncer looked like as we have not had a bouncer at our venue for a number of weeks now. Please email info@sixtymillionpostcards.com. Many thanks, James

Absolutely loved this place, shabby chic? Very hot Saturday afternoon with people just about everywhere!
After asking we sat down at a reserved table for someone else later in the day as lots seemed reserved, must be popular which is a good sign.
Menu is quirky is the only way I can think to describe it, well thought out burgers and sides with some vegan options.

First team member we encountered, a young lady working the bar was friendly and very efficient.

The food was superb, hot, fresh and very tasty!

All in all, highly recommended, would think they are packed to the rafters in the evening but for somewhere for good food a huge array of drink choices and fast and friendly staff this is the perfect choice and exceptionally reasonably priced!

It took 45 minutes to deliver two meals (at 5pm) when it wasn't full. The side salad was mostly spring onions, lettuce and some cucumber. The portions weren't very generous. There were no kids menus and pizza was unavailable on the day we visited. We used their QR code ordering system, which gave very little information about what happens next when we finished making the order. It also required us to tip at the time of ordering, which meant we tipped and hoped for good service, instead of tipping because of it (it wasn't great, but the delay for our food was the main problem, especially with two young children).

Thanks for leaving us a review. I'm sorry you were disappointed with your visit. I apologise for the wait, we serve lots of food throughout the day (including on delivery platforms) which means even though it might not be that every table is full, the kitchen is still very busy. Unfortunately the QR code ordering system isn't yet set up to inform of current wait times when it's busy for which I apologise. The QR app is used by some of our sister pubs which have pizza and kids menus so this is why they are greyed out as we don't run either of these menus (Sadly we don't have a pizza oven!). Once again I apologise for the shortcomings during your visit, we are working to improve our order at table functions. Sam

Since 2012 we have always loved 60million,
In the same year I had my stag here and it’s was always cool
Every few weekends we came and loved it and the food and staff were reliably awesome.
Like Banksy’s influence this place is just quirky , friendly, inclusive and the food remains delicious.

BUT - please bring back the southern fried. Chicken!

Thank you!
