Waste of money.

We’ve done a good few escape rooms, both in the UK and abroad and this was the worst. We did the Pharaoh Room - which started in a room of approx 3ftx7ft - hardly enough room for the four of us. There was no air and it felt really claustrophobic with no ventilation. The decoration was tired and very tenuous. A few Egyptian hieroglyphics spray painted on the walls with some hints written with a Sharpie pen on the wall. The whole place smelt musty and was dirty. It is all very well to devise puzzles when you have the answer in front of you, but there needs to be some chance of people being able to solve them when there are no clues. We asked for help on two occasions and were ignored. We waited probably around 5 mins for the guide to give us a clue and then he simply read from a script and told us what we had already done. One of the rooms had a crumbling wall with rubble left on the floor- this wasn’t part of the gains, either. The whole concept consisted of discovering numbers for combination locks - there had been little imagination used in creating the game. Overall not a great experience. There are other Escape rooms in Exeter. I suggest you try those. I paid £72 for this - don’t waste your money.

Took farther out 😁

My kids booked Mission Escape for my birthday ..and we loved it. We choose the Majoc experience which I believe is a more difficult one, so after a quick breifing we were off ...and it is difficult but you do get a few prompts which do help ..but the clock keeps counting down which puts the pressure on and the adrenaline keeps building... We loved it and will go back to try other challenges. The place is decorated with all sorts of things clocks, gas masks all sorts ... Very quirky .. brilliant... If you fancy a challenge give it a go 😁😁

Great for Team building
Oct 2019 • Friends
The visit here was organised as part of a work team building night out. Didn’t really know what to expect, I definitely think you’ll get out of it what you put in. If you not willing to participate and be part of the game then there’s no point going. You are placed in your room and have an hour to try to escape. It’s nothing fancy or technical but something different to do. If you are struggling to crack the clue then the person in charge helps you with clues. Had a good laugh and enjoyed myself but I do think that this will depend on who you go with.

Pharaoh Room
Aug 2019 • Family
We played the pharaoh room, one of our team’s first escape room and he said it was very enjoyable. Maybe the room needs updating a little bit but was still a challenging game and fun to play. I didn’t feel there was much narrative or backstory to the theme in the room which was a little disappointing but an escape room is an escape room after all.

Overpriced and disappointing

Terrible experience, unengaged staff. Poorly designed. It was not fun. Do anything but this in Exeter.

Work needed, over priced for what you get

Wouldn't recommend this im comparison to some of the other rooms we have done. It feels too staged, no real continuity between each mini room of the same game, we were in a safari type room and the next room was aiming at futuristic, lacked flow and feel other stories have had. There was a lack of puzzles to solve in each room, we were a team of six and the whole team were working on the same thing once the room was searched, not multiple cluee at the same time, it was a case off too many hands and a couple of had to step back and wait whilst others figured it out. The most frustrating thing is when we asked for a clue they were really slow to arrive, we were close to the end with a 10 minutes to go and asked for a clue several times within the final 10mins and the 'guide' gave us nothing, we could hear him rummaging around in an adjacent room setting up the next game. Our 60 mins was up and we were still locked inside the room another 7 minutes and then our clue arrived (the game was over), we got within a couple of minutes but kinda felt deflated as we would have beat the room. In a previous room we have done the guide prompted us saying the combination was correct, in this room a team member had the right sequence but it didnt appear to work and the team went off track, wasting a lot of time, a simple prompt that we were along the right lines at the beginning would have been much more supportive. The guide seemed to be doing other things and not really pay much attention once we were inside. The quality doesn't reflect the price, this is more an £8-10 room, building is also a bit shabby and musty. This has put us off visiting Plymouth rooms from the same company (which are actually closer to us), not even the 10% voucher has swayed us to try, would rather travel further afield for better quality.

Great escape room
Jul 2019 • Friends
We visited Mission Escape Plymouth and were let down by the quality of the escape room there, but we had a voucher for the Exeter rooms so booked one up without expecting too much. We were VERY pleasantly surprised by the room and how high tech it was. The props in the room were very good and fitting with the story of the game. It is a very good game and I recommend it to new and experienced players. The only reason we couldn’t give this a 5 star is for a couple reasons. Firstly, upon walking it is quite a dirty building, the floors and toilets in particular. Secondly inside the room, we had to be told where to start, which shouldn’t really have to be done as a good escape room will guide players without the need for verbally pointing in the right direction by the games master. Other than that, a good room and I highly recommend.

Completed all 3 rooms over the years
Apr 2019 • Friends
As a bit of an escape room enthusiast myself and my partner have now completed all 3 rooms at mission escape. Compared to some of the escape rooms we have completed abroad and in other areas of the county, mission escape is definitely a little more basic. However, I still believe that the puzzles are well thought out and each mission is made up of several rooms which is always more fun. I've always found the staff friendly and approachable. I do agree with some reviews about the temperature of the room, it is very cold and you normally end up wearing your coats for the game! I think the price for the escape room is very reasonable and I would recommend this to friends and family visiting Exeter.

Grossly underwhelmed
Feb 2019 • Family
We did Pharaoh's Anger - our first ever escape room. We finished it in just over 30 minutes, 10 of which we spent on a poorly executed and very frustrating "skill" puzzle. The puzzles were straightforward, and mostly involved putting things in the right order to get a code for a padlock. There was no real storyline, and the decor whilst OK was tatty in places and the puzzle parts were definitely showing signs of wear and tear / damage. It being rather cold didn't exactly remind us of Egypt either. So some fun bits but far too short and lacking in quality. Crystal Maze Egyptian Zone it is not.
