What a place, real ale, real cider and historical atmosphere. Great place to visit but can't explain why. You'll just have to visit this real English pub.

Came here with a work colleague who enthused about it - I can see why. Great range of cask ales also a cask cider - varying strengths and a bit of information on them, the beer/cider is straight from the cask too. Great to see...More

Wasn't expecting it to be real ales and nothing else, but appauld what they are doing felt a bit out of place as a Guinness and lager man

Our local pub...although we live several hundred mile short away. Think that says it all. Every night is a beer festival. Conversations flows in the snug where new friendships are forged over an excellent pint. Looking forward to returning soon

Cracking old fashioned pub with good range of cask beers. Shame that they don’t do tea for non-drinkers and designated drivers.

A great (and ever changing) variety of real beers. The food menu is a bit limited, but what there is, is excellent - in particular, the ham sandwiches were thick & juicy.

This pub is a remarkable survivor, a real old world pub that has remained largely unchanged with excellent real ales direct from the barrel. It is just a collection of small rooms with no bar as such and a limited but good menu. It can...More

I have been coming here since 1982. I hope it never changes. My wife and I sat outside in the warm Autumn sunshine. We had Martha's Mild and also Branoc. Both excellent beers. Lunch consisted of a smoked chicken ploughman's and a scotch egg salad....More

Very unusual venue with comfortable mismatched armchairs and setees. Drinks at reasonable prices. Good live music by a comedy duo.
