Friendly, historic pub with great atmosphere
Oct 2020
Check to see if open because of the Covid Restrictions. Earlier in the Autumn the whole operation was moved outside, with a large tent and some wonderful fire pits. When allowed inside the large room at the back has been sympathetically adjusted for the restrictions. A great variety of beers and ciders and the owners have really made the best of things within the restrictions. Most years a great community event on Christmas Day, not sure it will be able to happen in 2020.

Atmospheric historic pub overlooking River Clyst
Oct 2020
Lovely lunchtime visit on a fresh sunny October day. Great welcome from the Bridge Inn staff. We sat in the open air at a table overlooking the river (there is outdoor seating under cover too). Choice of beers included Citra and Branoc - both excellent, Food menu limited to local pasties and home-made soup but that was fine for us. Clear Covid-19 precautions made us feel comfortable. There is nothing like spending time with friends at an historic pub like the Bridge Inn. Great access to cycle routes from here too,

Excellent venue.

Visited here on a September evening with some friends, the pub was simply excellent, they have moved everything outside and service is done via windows and a hatch an excellent way of doing things and very polite staff in a great setting at a very reasonable price. Well done.

Excellent social distancing measures, very friendly staff, wonderful setting, and (above all) an ever-changing terrific choice of ales. What more could you ask for?

Difficult to comment on a pub when you have to sit in the garden alongside the road and you order through a window that is open 6 inches at the top and shout to the girl inside what you want (which you don’t know as you can’t see the bar!).
Taking Covid restrictions a tad too far; made us laugh though.

Very nice old pub
Jan 2020 • Couples
My partner and I are staying in Branscombe and we were recommended this pub, so decided to visit for lunch. It's an amazing pub, never been decorated since it was built, love the fact there is no bar, they have to go to the cellar to get the drinks, which I find quirky. They have a good range of beers, they also do soft drinks if you aren't a drinker. I had the cheddar ploughman's. It was really nice with a large chunk of cheese. My partner had the pasty. The food was very nice and the portions were substantial. Staff are friendly and helpful. We recommend this pub.

The vintage of the pub makes it a place worth visiting, the interior oozes history in quirky spaces and is popular with visiting dancers and for music events.

A unique & memorable wedding experience
Sep 2019 • Friends
We have just attended some friends wedding at The Bridge. It was a unique and memorable day in a great atmospheric period pub - all made extra special by the management & staff who were going out of their way to ensure everything went according to plan and that everyone enjoyed the day. At the end of the night we thought we had a short 10 minute stroll back to our hotel in Topsham but Network Rail had other plans - with a jobsworth preventing us doing the usual 30 second walk across the railway line due to overnight repairs going on about 200 metres further up the line ! We had got about half way through what was now a 30 minute trudge when The Bridge owner came past in her car from giving someone else a lift back in similar circumstances and rescued us with a lift back - above & beyond! Thanks for a great day.

Unfriendly

I have visited the Bridge Inn on several occasions over the last 30 years and each time whilst the beer is usually good , the attitude of the staff is miserable and non communicative, with no welcome smile or indeed good manners,I cannot for the life of me understand how this pub stays in business.

Great place for a pint as the suns on the way down

We often pop in here when down at my wife's mums.
Great choice of traditional beer all in very good condition.
Not to be missed.
You don't see many places like this any more which is a great shame.
This place is a wonderful change from the great mass of chain pubs that seem to dominate the market.
