Hot Air Balloon Flight from Exeter

Devon’s green hills, rugged coast, and windswept beaches are among England’s most beautiful, but the most spectacular views are from above. Float overhead on a 1-hour hot air balloon ride, watch the sunrise or sunset over Devon, then celebrate with a champagne toast.

We were given a spa day and afternoon tea package as a Christmas present. On arrival they had no record stating it was already paid for, we asked the person who gave us the gift but they only had a receipt of purchase from PayPal - we ended up paying for the package again on the understanding we would get the refund once an email etc was found - we weren’t informed when booking that any prof was needed. We went from there into the pool area, the main door is broken so had to walk all the way around, the lockers are electronic but there are no instructions on how to use them, we then went over to the spa to ask - no one there, we waited for a while and still no one turned up, so then went back to reception to find an employee, they then informed us you need to shut the locker, create a 4 digit code then repeat it and it will lock. We then go back to the pool area the lockers have robes in, a big stack of towels in the corner but no footwear?! After a swim (in a pool full of leaves) which was a lot shorter than originally planned, we had to put our own shoes on with robes to walk over to the spa (looking ridiculous!)- after asking about footwear we were then given flip flops (a bit late really!) We had pre booked over a month ago for an hour hot stone massage each, we were then told that no hot stone therapists were in so we couldn’t have that, we had to pick other treatments, we also booked a couples room - again this wasn’t on their system so we were separated The head of the bed in the treatment room was so close to the wall that every time the therapist moved around the top of the bed the head rest was knocked, the treatment on the whole was ok - definitely not the best. After the treatments we were rushed out back to the pool area and offered a cocktail as an apology - neither of us drink so we didn’t benefit On the way to the pool area we looked less ridiculous as we now had flip flops to wear instead of boots, the light in the only toilet in the pool area was broken and the room has no windows so you either had to use the toilet with the door open or chance it in complete darkness. After leaving the pool we went over to the restaurant to have afternoon tea - we were instructed to go to the bar, we went to the bar and then instructed to go back to the restaurant, apologies were made but by this point we weren’t expecting anything to go right After waiting over half an hour in a restaurant that was less than a quarter full of people we were eventually served afternoon tea, the bread was hard in places and the fillings weren’t the nicest - the cakes were an odd combination, the nicest part was the scones. We have been to hotel du vin plenty of times in the past and previously really enjoyed it, todays experience was very disappointing and has ensured we won’t return anytime soon.

I was bought a spa day for 2, with lunch and prosecco by my daughter for my birthday. I went with my sister. The original voucher was for St. Michael's in Falmouth but they seemed unable/unwilling to fit us in for a massage at a reasonable time. So I exchanged it for Hotel du Vin in Exeter, who were helpful, amendable and did whatever they could to fit us in at a reasonable time. The massages were amazing, very thorough and very professional. Shannon was brilliant. I feel like a new woman. Lunch, although limited for voucher people, was still very nice indeed. Service was fairly good but there did seem some confusion as to what was available for customers who had vouchers. I think this aspect needs addressing and then I would happily give a 5 star review. The hotel is really smart, with lovely areas for sitting and relaxing. Staff were welcoming and helpful but as I said a bit lacking in some knowledge. We enjoyed the spa, lunch and the warm hydro pool, although I would say if you suffer from the effects of chlorine on your eyes, I would recommend goggles, if you intend to put your face in the water. The young man behind the bar was charming and gave us very good service. All in all a wonderful day. Thank you Hotel du Vin

I’m a little hesitant in writing a review as it would be good to keep this hotel a secret. I can not recommend this place enough. Myself and 2 friends enjoyed an excellent spa day with lunch. Staff are lovely especially Rose our excellent waitress at the restaurant. Very knowledgeable and accommodating. Food was absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to return. Well done Hotel Du Vin ❤️

I am a regular at the Spa and always have a wonderful experience. This time I brought my husband as an anniversary treat. We had a relaxing swim in the indoor/ outdoor pool which is non chlorinated making it more enjoyable for lounging in. We both had fantastic REN facials from Natalia and Natalie, which left us looking 10 years younger. They are proper treatments which address muscle tension in the face and the therapists always tailor the treatment to individual skin concerns. There is also the option for a shoulder, head or hand massage when the treatment mask is on. The Spa rooms are tranquil with lovely heated beds which are very relaxing. I rate these treatments over the ones I’ve had at much larger well known spa resorts. In respect of other reviews here - yes it is a small boutique spa and pool but that is part of the appeal to me. There are several alternative places to sit including large deckchairs on the lawn and a lovely lounge area. We were also touched to be given some complimentary Champagne as the staff had realised that it was our anniversary. Looking forward to my next visit.
