Beautifully kept castle and grounds right in the heart of Exeter. The gardens connect the city without you even realising it. A must see if you’re visiting.

I visited the castle during ‚Beast from the East‘. Very peaceful and quiet, the garden looked lovely beneath a layer of snow. It must be stunning when green. Nice view from the walls! All for free!

We came in through the wall from the park next door and walked around the ruins. It’s quite charming and there are some information signs around.

If you consider the castle in isolation, it is hardly worth visiting, but when you add the location alongside a nice park etc, it is a pleasant enough place to visit.
