We visited the open air theatre recently on a trip to Chester. We enjoyed a fantastic performance of Much Ado About Nothing. It was funny and well acted. Amazing experience. I can't recommend it enough.

Despite the rain a super performance of the Tempest. Clear audio brilliant modern adaption and the teenagers really enjoyed themselves too.

We have been going to these open air shows in Chester's Grosvenor Park since they started. Always very enjoyable - relaxed with picnic atmosphere - and interesting interpretations of Shakespeare and other plays. This year - we've seen a very different take on The Tempest...More

Once again the outdoor theatre was an excellent experience. All well organised and great fun watching Swallows and Amazons. Took picnic and prosecco. What’s not to like

First trip to Chester and Much Ado about Nothing was the highlight. Slick action, fine comic acting, supported by music played by the cast. Dogberry, the verbose constable, was a delight; audience engagement brilliant. Our only regret was that we had to leave just before...More

I thoroughly enjoyed this year’s adaptation of Shakespeare’s play The Tempest. It was filled with some great performances, musical as well as acting. The atmosphere is always laid back and friendly. Weather was on our side today which helped. As we booked our tickets in...More

My husband and I have never seen Shakespeare at the theatre and were marginally worried that we wouldn't be able to follow the story; the amazing actors just made it perfect. It was totally brilliant; the actors were amazing and totally made it! Would recommend...More

The Grosvenor Open Air Theatre is a temporary structure showing productions by Storyhouse, the local Chester Theatre. The performance space is probably only 15m x 10m plus occasional use of the access walkways and the seating areas, thus the productions are quite interactive with the...More

The main entrance to the park is on Vicar's Lane. It's a pedestrian entrance only but the NCP Pepper Street is very close by. There are a number of hotels in Chester City Centre that are all close enough to walk to the park.
