Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

National Trust - free to the public to enter.

The cottages were originally built for servants of the Estate. Now modernised and are homes, so do not expect to go inside. There’s a peaceful atmosphere to soak up the beauty of the buildings.

There’s parking close to the entrance which is through a metal gate, easy to miss, just be observant walking along the wall/hedge.

A National Trust sign, which is in a triangle of grass on the B4057 close the Blaise Castle Estate, directs you down the one-way road. There’s a metal NT sign next to the gate.

I located this hamlet by pure fluke earlier today.
Entering through a small iron gate which has a plaque to the side offering information about the site, I lapped the hamlet via a level footpath.
The hamlet is extremely peaceful and the cottages are a delight.
There is a little monument position centrally and a small grass area and a lap of this beautiful hamlet will take a few minutes.
The residents ask for visitors to this free site to act respectfully and ask not to picnic in the grounds.
A great way to spend a few minutes.

Just over the road from Blaise Castle itself lies this beautiful little oasis of calm: a small grassy green surrounded by 9 gorgeous cottages built around 1810. Owned by the National Trust they are rented out to tenants so you can't go into the cottages, however you can walk around the green and admire their beauty (and envy the residents!). It's a very small place so 15 mins should suffice. Open from dawn to dusk via a little gate leading onto the green.

I am a National Trust Member and having visited Blaise Hamlet many times in the past, I chose to visit with an elderly friend who had never visited the National Trust venue. I was extremely disappointed! Firstly, the gate to enter the Hamlet was broken and difficult to open. The pathway around the communal area was practically non existent. The communal area was untidy and unkempt and the individual gardens were mostly overgrown and neglected. Altogether a very disappointing experience.

We' ve been to this wonderful place on a chilly day. Frankly speaking, it' s not so easy to find this tiny village but it' s really worth seeing. It's like a travel to a beatuful fairy-tale which discovers the images of the past country life. Each cottage has its own charm.

Being a tourist involves amongst other attributes, the ability to observe, snoop or downright stare at any public or private scenarios. Ethical comforts or lack thereof, matter to some but in the "passing-through" phase of meandering through private areas is cool by me.
A lovely lady stopped to watch us looking at her cottage and approached us with a conviviality and a potted history of this hamlet. She told us that the cottage Orne was a key component of the picturesque style of building and landscape architecture in vogue at the end of the 16th-18th-centuries. We invited her to a cup of tea which she accepted, offering to make one at her lovely cottage .
What a bonus. An insider's view of life here-abouts and more history f then we could shake a stick at. Estates were landscaped in such a way that a series of picturesque views were created. This artificial and exaggerated rusticity became highly favoured by wealthy landowners looking to improve the appearance of their estates
The famous John Nash, erected a stunning collection of 9 cottages Orne, grouped around a green, complete with ornamental trees and a store pump. As we observed later - no two cottages are alike and they display an astonishing wealth of fine detail.
Our hostess proceeded to escort us through her world and toured us through the hamlet. Marvellous expression of goodwill, conviviality and serendipity. Lucky us.

Open spaces, swings, sand pit, slides and climbing frames for all aged kids. Woods, stream, hills and a surprise fairy castle hidden on top of the hill.
Cafe is new and popular, but with plenty of picnic places we took our own and camping chairs. Free parking, free museum open some days...check website. Only paid for the ice-creams.

Step back in time when you visit this stunning hidden gem. Nine beautiful little cottages built in 1811 all dotted around a green. The feeling of peace and tranquility is wonderful.
