The Arataki Visitor Centre is the gateway to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park, with more than 16,000 hectares of native rainforest and coastline. It's 250km of walking and tramping tracks provide access to beaches, breathtaking views, and spectacular rocky outcrops, including the Hillary Trail, black sand beaches, waterfalls and giant kauri trees. The Park Rangers here will help you make the most of your visit. They know the latest track and weather conditions and the directions to the best places in the Park. If you are staying in the Park overnight, ask for the best camping & campervan sites.

This place is absolutely lovely, lots to do here from sight seeing to rock hunting! There is also lots of useful information available.

Very family friendly , arataki visitor centre has a little museum type area as well information on the various trails/ treks you can do. Just before the entrance, on the left you will find one of 10 golden frames, this are situated in different parts...More

Nicely laid out visitor centre with the usual coffee, toilets and gifts. Good information on the local area and hiking trails. A bit of history on the area and the people. Unexpected information relative to movies and filming in the local area.

Just a short 30 minutes from Auckland, the Arataki Visitor Center is a great way to begin a tour of New Zealand. Great views of the Tasman Sea and super exhibits. .Very informative.

Great location to get a general introduction to the local area trails, history, etc. Coffee, souvenirs and toilets available.

This is a great stop while driving the Waitakere ranges. The scenery and location is breathtaking. What a view!! There is multiple spots at the centre to view and each all have individual beautiful aspects to look at. The centre is also great and interactive...More
