Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My wife bought me a voucher for a flight in the DC3 for my birthday. It was awesome. The experience of flying in an aircraft that rests on it's tail was unreal. The sounds, being able to watch the pilots in the cockpit at work, and getting up into the cockpit mid flight was awesome. The crew were excellent; we were talking and taking photos a long time after landing. This is a must if you love flying (it's a good scenic flight around Auckland too).

What an awesome experience to meet such a passionate crew, a lovingly restored DC3
And the perfect day to enjoy a flight to Whitianga from Ardmore for lunch at Stoked on the waterfront. The entire day from start to finish was fantastic. From the safety briefing and intro to Betsy, the inflight service and commentary, smooth take off and landing, spectacular views of our stunning coastline the whole day was just perfect. Our group of 28 neighbours and friends could not have been happier, we loved every moment of our day. Just go and do tis people, it is real value for money and a real memory maker.

A great scenic flight on a DC3. Beautiful old plane. Kids had a fantastic time and were able to go up to the cockpit. Friendly crew. Smoother landing than the current A320's.

Definitely recommend the flight on the DC3. Great plane, friendly staff and awesome views over Auckland. While out in Ardmore you can also go look at the Warbirds Museum and check out their cafe.

This is a really special thing to do! The aircraft is a genuine DC3 and the trip over Auckland is superb. The entire journey takes place at c1500 feet, so the views over the city and the surrounding area are just great.
The folk operating the service are unpaid, and clearly do it because they love it. The funds go into keeping the aircraft in service.
It’s also great value and makes for a special gift.

A wonderful, reasonably priced experience. Crew made you feel really welcome and the pre-flight briefing was very interesting. We were very lucky that the weather was great so the views of Auckland and the surrounding area were stunning. Plenty of room on the aircraft and able to move around to make the most of photo opportunities. The whole trip is highly recommended and one that I would repeat.

We flew from Ardmore Airport to Whitianga on the Coromandel on 4th Jan 2017.On my bucket list and it did not disappoint . An amazing aircraft from an era when leg room meant just that and great views of the Hauraki Gulf islands the Coromandel and Whitford Forest .The crew are all enthusiastic ,helpful and informative volunteers .This is one of the few countries in the world where you can still fly one of these amazing aircraft and sample how flying used to be from the mid 1930s .Thoroughly recommend it .All money goes back into running the aircraft.

We flew from Ardmore to Whitianga with a group to visit Ingrid Boot's exhibition of paintings at Bread & Butter gallery. It was such an amazing experience we did it again the following Sunday and took friends with us.
The DC3 is beautiful, it has been lovingly restored and her pilots and crew make the whole thing unforgettable. The trip starts with a meet and greet with coffee or bubbles, a chat about Betsy, the history and her life now, safety briefs and then up up and away!

My husband and I spent a very enjoyable day flying from Ardmore aerodrome to Whitianga to attend Ingrid's amazing exhibition. A big 'Thank You,' to Ingrid and Christine for arranging the trip, and to the very professional volunteer crew, who provided us, along with 26 others, a wonderful flying experience on good old Betsy. For me it was a trip of nostalgia. My first ever flight was on a DC3 for a school trip 56 years ago. Highly recommend this experience.
