Easy to go to the waterfalls
If you look for a track there's more 10-15min drive from the falls
The ranger on site helped us to find where it was and we also used google map
We started from the Suspension Bridge and ended up at Wairoa Loop, it took us an hour, it's better to start from the bridge unless you want to climb a lot of stairs from Wairoa ;)

Hunua Falls was amazing because my family had a lot of fun, and the view of the waterfall was amazing.

Good spot for picnic with kids. Can do a quick swim in water and enjoy food from a food truck. Not a bad idea to carry own food.

It is a nice place to have a picnic. Wheelchair and pram friendly. Nice drive to there. Avoid the restrooms if possible.

Hanua Falls: Family, Couples or Solo
Feb 2020
I have been here in the Fall and Winter. It can be an adventure on the trails or a quick photo opportunity that takes 5 minutes from the parking lot. You can spend 3 hours or 20 minutes on the trails, it is up to you. Swimming is an option in the summer months, but I have never ventured into the water. Fun memories at Hanua Falls and the Dam. Thank you New Zealand

A Small Gem
Nov 2019 • Friends
A small waterfall but its beautiful. Beware that the car park can only host ten cars. Lots of chickens wandering around the car park. A walkway next to the waterfall can go through to the treaty ground.

Awesome falls and pretty walk tracks surrounding
Oct 2019 • Friends
The waterfall was great! Not too high but beautiful nonetheless. The water surrounding it at the bottom looked a bit dangerous, but lots of spots to sit around and relax - or if you prefer, walking tracks nearby

Picnic spot for family or couples.
Sep 2019
We were staying just down the road in Papakura and visited the falls on two occasions.
Both times the falls were running with more than usual force thanks to the recent period of heavy rain.
The first time was just for a look and photos and the second time we took food and a picnic lunch.
There are also walks in the area, but be aware that currently there are measures in place to combat the Kauri Dieback that is affecting trees in the area.
The measures include washing stations for footwear and the application of some biocide to the footwear. This easily accomplished at the washing station and then you can cross the river for walks, photos and picnics (if you are staying on the car-park side of the river you can still picnic, walk see the falls and and take photos without cleaning your footwear).
A very pleasant spot to spend a couple of quiet hours.
