The cafe serves 5 persons in 45 minutes. That must be a record in South Auckland. A really lazy afternoon.

Having visited scores of botanical gardens over the past several years we were very impressed with Auckland Botanic Gardens. The grounds are beautifully maintained. There are many areas to explore including the rock garden, African , rose and magnolia gardens and even a children's garden. The visitors center also has a nice cafe for refreshment and relaxation.

The botanic gardens are well laid out but looked a bit sad, probably because of the swirling grey clouds and the severe lack of water over recent months in the area. It is well laid out and easy to follow the trails such as the indigenous trees etc. The cafeteria serves lovely cakes and a choice of teas.

It is an indication of a fine nation that makes gardens like the Auckland Botanic free to the public. We visited here six years ago and came back, just as we did then--a nice walk on a lovely day after a long plane ride from the US, and a lovely cafe for lunch. The Garden is really too large to... This is our eighth visit to NZ (we have family here) but the first time we have been to these gardens. What a serendipity and only 30 min drive from west Auckland where we are staying. Entry to these extensive gardens is free. They are well laid out in themed areas including a native forest area with an extensive walk.... More

We live across the road and visit all The time to ride bikes, drink coffee and feed the ducks. Staff are always lovely and the grounds are well maintained.

New Zealand has many gardens, this was a nice one but not their best. If you want to see everything it will take several hours of walking. They have excellent flowerbeds and native trees. We found trails that went through a tropical forest and climbed a small hill. As an introduction to native plants this is very good. We had... More

The Auckland Botanic Gardens rival any others that I have seen. Amazing displays of plants representing all types and climates. The conservatory buildings are beautiful, and the covered walkways are reminiscent of English cathedrals. The fern garden, which is separate from the conservatories, is magical. If you are visiting Aucklamd, this should not be missed.

Having grown up with the Botanic Gardens on my doorstep I have always enjoyed bringing visitors here, now I am visiting with my partner as we live overseas. It is a great place to visit, with lots of information as well as native and exotic plants. BUT it is a shame that at the height of summer, in fact during... More

Hi Kiree Thanks for you feedback and great to here you enjoy the Gardens. At present we do not have the resources to cover the site for longer than our present hours. Hopefully in the future if that improves we can consider extending the times. Regards Visitor Services team More
