Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I came in here with some friends for some drinks and felt abit peckish. I tried and asked 3
Times at the bar for some cheesy chips in which I was ignored. I asked again finally accepted and paid. Cheesy chips arrived I asked the waitress for mayo which never arrived. I went to the bar and got told to ask one of the waitresses I had to go around the pub and asked a young lad for some mayo in which he hesitated like it was hard work! The pub wasn’t even full on a Saturday night! Do take care of your drinkers as much as you take care of your restaurant bookings!!

We had a lovely meal here sat night,
first time we had tasted pigeon.
A lovely meal in a nice pub with very friendly staff. We have visited many times and will be back again, excellent as always.

Nothing was too much trouble. Nice ambience and very clean.
Had a fab lunch. My friend had monkfish scampi and I had a superb burger.
The brownie dessert was lovely. Gooey with raspberry sauce and honeycomb brittle too.
Safe and social distancing being observed.
Many thanks and will be back !

First time visiting the Rattlebone for dinner and we weren’t disappointed! Food was excellent, as was the service, despite it being very busy. The friendly staff and cosy atmosphere made for a really lovely evening! We will definitely be back!

We are only 15 minutes away but haven’t been to this place for years. We had visitors who wanted a pub lunch so having looked up the menus online we went. Lovely welcome and exceptionally good service! We were asked where we would like to sit and chose the informal area of the bar. The service was exceptionally good! And we were not rushed which is always a bonus! The food is very good and lots of choice. It was quite expensive though!

We popped in here by chance for lunch one cold Tuesday. We are often disappointed on a early weekday lunch eating out but not this time! We both ate from the specials board (it was game week). My pheasant was perfectly cooked on crispy and well seasoned bubble and squeak with a gorgeous mushroom sauce. The husband had game pie, initially was worried as there was no gravy on the plate (loves his gravy) so asked for more, they said there was plenty in the pie and they were right but kindly bought and extra jug anyway so he was in gravy heaven. It was all so delicious we had desserts which we never normally have and I loved my salted caramel panacotta as it was properly salty! We even booked for lunch next Sunday as I love a roast and so many pubs don’t get it right, can’t wait to try it going by this meal it will be fabulous. Thank you!

We decided to eat here because the gluten free options were the most interesting and varied of the pubs in the area. Unusually for us, we both had the same meal, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were helpful, although very busy at times, the dining section was fully booked, so it was a busy night.
My only note would be that a comment was made that most of the items on the menu could be made gluten free, and it would be helpful if this was more clearly marked on the menu (for example saying gluten free available) but they were able to provide me with plenty of options and it was all great.

Excellent friendly pub. 6 of us to include 2 little ones had a wonderful meal last night, taken advantage of the Wednesday evening steak offer. Utterly delicious, perfect steak and good choice of puddings. We are going again next month.

We booked a table at fairly short notice and chose from the specials blackboard . Very fresh fish and delightful calves liver with crispy bacon. Good quality wines by the glass not expensive. Elmers Flying Monk well kept and thirst quenching .
Great puddings freshly prepared . Happy service. Warm atmosphere . Exceptional village pub.
