If you're here any way (our tour stopped for lunch here) then it's probably worth a look in. The story behind the church is very interesting to hear.

Just a lovely sacred place to visit. Do have time to go and visit it. It is so worth the trip if you can. I will revisit soon A place for reflection

A very charming sanctuary of the Holy Mary. A small and usually quiet place of worship. I personally liked the modest design- no great ornaments. Instead, simplicity at its best!. It's a good idea to go there on 15th Sept when the national pilgrimage takes...More

It is said that the forc of the prayers from the congregants at this church prevented the most recent lava flow from destroying it, hence it has become a focus for annual pilgramages. Located in a tiny village a little way of the beaten track...More

We had imagined a bigger church, and at least a place to light some prayer candles, but in fact the church is quite small... silver sanctuary lights rather nice. Outside in lower car park is some info and maybe the place where the lava stopped...More
