We are a local company, with a passion for cycling. Our services range from day rides, to premium multi day tours along Tasman's Great Taste Trail and/or quiet back roads. We provide high quality trail bikes and e-bikes for comfortable cycling on trails and country back roads. Using our local knowledge and experience, we offer a range of day tours that not only use the official trail, but also take our guests to hidden gems, off the beaten track. Our unique itineraries, take in wineries, hop gardens, studios and galleries, cafes and restaurants. All of our itineraries can be adapted to suit the specific needs of our guests. This is my first cycle tour holiday and I can't wait to do an other.
The Great Taste Trail covers beautiful scenery and we were very lucky to have gorgeous sunny weather, but Nicki and Lisa were so helpful, efficient and caring they made the experience.
We were given great guidance from them beginning with written details of the route and a comprehensive map. We also knew we weren't a bother if we needed to call at anytime. All our accommodation they booked for us was lovely and the hosts as caring as Wheelie Fantastic tours.
And we loved the bikes - they were so easy to ride!

Wow I didn't know it was your first cycling holiday. Hopefully the first of many. It was great to meet you and your cycling buddies and we were glad to be part of your fun holiday. The trip was really well organised with great support along the way from Nicky and Lisa. The accommodation was fabulous, and the cafe recommendations were fantastic. Would definitely recommend Wheelie Fantastic to anyone wanting to see this part of the world on 2 wheels!

Nicky & Lisa from Wheelie Fantastic were super helpful right from our first email... Nothing was too much trouble and every step of the way we were provided with heaps of helpful information and maps. The accommodation was great, the bikes were fabulous... absolutely loved this trip.

Nicky and her team provided us with an amazing ride on the Great Taste Trail. We had a couple of “will we won’t we won’t we” moments and our issues were sorted quickly by Nicky. The standard of accomodation was really awesome and we loved meeting special local people here. The trip notes and maps were great.

Nicky from Wheelie Fantastic Cycle tours put together a truly magical cycle tour of the Great Taste Trail from Nelson. Nicky provided great cycle route recommendations with places to visit, including eats, cafes, and coffee stops along the way. We did a 6 Day self guided cycle tour with all logistics perfectly taken care of by Nicky (including superb bikes) with the most memorable and ideallic accommodation in picturesque Coastal and Rural stays. Scott and I absolutely loved our experience and highly recommend Wheelie Fantastic Cycle Tours with Nicky, a delightful, must do experience. Your enthusiasm and positive outlook on everything you were doing, made our jobs very easy. I know you want to return to this area and we will get some gravel rides sorted out for you to do. I would love to show you some of my favourite gravel routes.

We were a group of 4 couples with differing riding experience who did the full great taste trail plus the extra day inland around Upper Moutere. We all thoroughly enjoyed the trip and apart from a few wrong turns and an unscheduled mountain ing biking experience which scarred a couple of our group, everything was great. Great accomodation at, close to the best places in town, and the recommendations were first class. Wineries, food and beer with gorgeous scenery was just what we all expected and our bikes, some electric and some not, were in great shape and good choices. Assistance wasn’t really required but it was nice to have it there when required such as the transport to avoid a return trip via the mountain bike route!. Really enjoyed by all and this trail will only get better as it matures in signage and improved trail surfaces over time, but it’s all very achievable now. Thx Nicky and Lisa and a couple of us did enjoy the mountain bike bit!

Thanks Alan for the detailed feedback. We appreciate the time you have taken to leave this review. I am hopeful that in future, unplanned mountain biking adventures will be less likely on the way through the Kaiteriteri mountain bike park, when a new path gets made that will be even easier than the existing 'Easy Rider'. Some more GTT signage on that section may also help riders stay on the right track. We would love to help you explore this region again, especially when some new paths are completed!

The scenery and varied bike trails made for a most enjoyable trip, but it was the personalised support, detailed information, well maintained bikes, much appreciated pickups and drop offs, and fantastic accommodation. Finally Nicky’s suggestions for great coffees and meals were perfect. Highly recommended.

The four of us loved the whole experience on the bike trails. The scenery, accommodation, bikes and the trails themselves were fantastic. It was also great having a rest day in Kaiteriteri as it's such a beautiful beach. Nicky was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and so easy to deal with. She gave us lots of helpful tips and a detailed itinerary and track description that included what to see and do, ideas for good places to stop to eat, drink, swim etc. Couldn't fault her nor Wheelie Fantastic.

We loved everyday on our e-bikes seeing different landscapes including the stunning Abel Tasman National Park, just relaxing as we rode at our own pace stopping here and there for a coffee, glass of wine or a yummy local treat. Nikki from Wheelie Fantastic Tours was very helpful and full of local knowledge.The accommodation was in excellent locations and each night a little different.

Originally planned to do this ride in 2020 before COVID interrupted the world. The communication with this company has always been prompt and accurate which gave me the confidence to try again.
We ( my parter and me) set off from Nelson on day one of The Great Taste Trail on a nice sunny day to do the first day to Mapua. It is only a short ride finishing with a short ferry ride to the beach at Mapua. The accomodation here was great and located literally beside the wharf where there are several cafes and bars for dining ( and drinking). The next day was a planned loop around the wineries, cafes and breweries of the area. Alas that didn’t happen due to ill health. We couldn’t get into any doctors locally so Nikky offered to take us to the hospital at Nelson if we needed it. Such is her service to her customers.
Long story short we spent the next few days with friends at Motueka and some of us went to Little Kaiteriteri and caught the boat that does a tour up the coast of Abel Tasman park. A few of us did an 8k walk to and caught the ferry back to Kaiteriteri at days end. Highly recommended.
The next day (second last day of our planned 6 day ride) it was pouring with rain and our friends transported us to that nights accommodation. Nikky was in touch with us and offered to do the same.
Finally we got to a day’s riding back to Nelson. This was the highlight of the riding passing through narrow valleys of rural NZ opening out into to productive , fertile farmland and finally townships as we neared Nelson. A bit of drama along the way with Spooners Tunnelbeing flooded from the previous days rainfall. We trudged through the water pushing our bike about halfway through the tunnel. We would not have attempted this had we not met up a group of riders who had come through the other way. the tunnel is 1.3 kilometres long and pitch black ( headlight necessary).
Closer or Nelson, after about 55k we struggled with a strong headwind and Nikki came to our rescue, once again and transported us to our accommodation.
I highly recommend Wheelie Fantastic to organise whatever cycling you might want to do around the Nelson area. Tell Nikky what you want and she will tailor your tour.

Thank you Liz and Ross, it was great to meet you after all the delays. Yes a few things didn't work out that none of us could control and it was timely that you were going to spend some time with friends mid-tour. Sunny Nelson does sometimes offer other weather too. People like yourselves with sunny dispositions make the most of it. We were more than happy to play the supporting role as and when needed. I thought we weren't going to mention that it was the first lift you have ever taken on a bike tour? Your secret is safe with us!!
