Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well worth a visit.
Stopped in here for a visit. This place is awesome.
Sweet coffee van with baked goods.
There's also a free museum full of lots of fun and quirky things. Like magic, there's lots of buttons to press and things to pull to see special effects. This part is free and welcome to kids under close supervision.
The next part is well worth $10 to see an interactive theater of sorts and open to over 13 year olds.

You stare at one spot for ages, then realise theres so many things you didnt see in that one area. Theres so much detail everywhere you go, but nothing looks out of place or overdone. Incredibly clever. With the "inventions" and never ending minature masterpieces, theyre made out of general house hold items or things that almost everyones got. A kitchen tray, bits of wire, sauce sushi bottles (get when you buy sushi, I always chuck them in the bin) , paua shells (most kiwis have a paua shell hiding somewhere), bits of rubbish, the actual items are all reusable, I doubt the materials would have cost much. Yet the way he makes them move and what he does with them, the inventor must be an engineer genius.
Loved visiting, an incredible place, would stronf recommend for everyome.

Turn the knobs, push the buttons and be thrilled by the unexpected novelty creations. Step into the gypsy bus for free to see and try unique creations. Well worth paying $10 to see what is displayed beyond. Take your time and try everything. Thoroughly entertaining.

Wonderful! Have been visiting The Lost Gypsy for around 20 years and Blair never fails to disappoint, with quirky new creations on display each time I have visited. The Theatre is well worth the few dollars entry. Blair truly has a great imagination and it is a wonder to behold his marvellous creations!

Can I leave 10 stars? This place made us laugh hysterically. Pure genius behind this hidden gem of a place. Definitely worth the $8 to view the wacky works of art... so much wonderment and amazement in store. And the coffee is great too!

This has got to be the most random, wackiest and fun place we’ve visited this holiday!
Happened across The Lost Gypsy on the roadside today and so glad we stopped!
The guy who owns it has made everything himself out of recycled junk!
Loads of innovative, quirky and downright genius interactive, push the button, turn the handle stuff to play with!
Got to be the best $10 each we’ve spent all holiday! 🤣

Had been recommended this by a friend and still didn't know what to expect. Amazing and wonderous for kids of all ages, and best of all is you can go in for a look in the bus for free and there's lots of things with so much thought in them. So worth a look (and a touch/push/play!).

Gotta love automata, especially when fashioned from bits and bobs. Its highly irreverent.the attractive collection in the bus for which entry is free is a teaser for the cornucopia of creations through the gate. Kids are barred, but the buzz, bong and bright lights of the organ will definitely tickle your fancy.

What a buzzy little spot! I saw a sign "Lost Gypsy, ha" wife says " I've heard of that" so we stop in for a look and I'm so glad we did.
An eclectic collection of fun little trinkets and toys, geegaws and doodads, wonders and curiosities. Push the button! Turn the handles! Marvelous!
