Sheltered from the surf ideal for families and less confident swimmers. Really nice spot if you want a close up to one of those massive cruise ships that frequent the harbour during the summer

Went here to meet a Pilot and was very annoyed , there were none here. Watch out, very misleading name.

Probably the best coastal front I have ever seen, why, not populates, clean beaches and clean air, lovely flat path walk and picturesque views of mount monganuie . And, in short walking distance you get a surf beach and fantastic coffee shops. This place is...More

Pilot Bay has not changed much over the last 40 plus years since I have visited there as a kid. It's a lovely spot to sit and watch the cruise ships if it's the cruise season. The boats and ships glide right on past. Lots...More

A lovely protected bay to have a walk, swim, picnic or have a fish off the wharf. Wonderful views over Mount Maunganui and easy waking distance to the ocean beach, shops and the restaurants.

Part of our family from toddler days - cricket, swimming, kayaking, picnics, ships to watch, fish and chips, first visit when kids home from overseas.

Lovely to sit and look out to Pilot Bay. The views of the bay are lovely and some seats are there to sit and enjoy it all. Lots of boats to look at to. Right near town and the Mt.

This is a sheltered inner harbour beach. Has a board walk along the entire beach . Ideal for familys and picnics etc.

Pilot Bay is peaceful and safe; it's also a good vantage point for watching the passing ships and smaller boats.

Inner harbour swimming, nice and calm for the young ones. Lots of places to sit and watch the ships or escape the busy marine parade. Boats launched at the Mount end and food found at the other. Parking available
