I was greeted by Judy at the Tauranga Port she introduce us to Nora who was absolutely lovely and accommodating with where I and another couple wanted to go. I had originally booked the combo tour to Hobbiton and Rotorua but due to time constraints we elected Rotorua. On our way to Rotorua Nora made a few stops, the kiwi plantation and shop where we saw bees making honey. The highlight of our trip was a visit to the living Maori village Whakarewarewa. There we saw mud pools, geysers, kiwi birds and exhibition of Maori crafts. After a tour of the village we were entertained with a Maori concert steeped in tradition. On the way back to the cruise ship Nora showed us the city of Rotorua its spa and city of Tauranga. Nora possess a deep understanding of the Maori culture and the island. I had a wonderful day and would recommend this tour over the tours offered on the ships. Thanks Nora, your the best.

Clem met us promptly at the dock as we disembarked the ship. A quick drive through Tauranga saw us headed out to Hobbiton and then on to Rotorua. The vehicle was clean and very comfortable. We lost some time at roadworks which put us behind schedule but Clem managed to catch us during the day so we didn't miss anything. We were even able to catch a couple of extra sites in Rotorua on the way back to the ship. They are use to dealing with the cruise ships and have you back in plenty of time before all aboard. I would absolutely use CJs again.

We docked in Tauranga (Mt Maunganui Port) and Clem was waiting with one of his drivers, Jude, outside the pier gates. We had booked online earlier for our Hobbiton and Whakarewarewa Thermal Village tour. All entry fees were included in the price of the tour which was half the price of what the ship was charging. (The ship’s excursion would have been in a large tour bus with 50 others!). Our car could have taken 5 people but we were fortunate enough to have the car to ourselves. Our first stop was at a Kiwifruit Farm where we tasted different types of the fruit and bought Kiwifruit products e.g. jams, chutneys, etc. It was very interesting to see the farm and how the fruit is grown. Next stop was the Whakarewarewa Thermal Village where Maoris still live, and our guide was one of the locals. It was intriguing to find that they use the natural thermal vents for cooking! The highlight for us was of course Hobbiton which had been on our bucket list for years. It was an amazing visit. A definite must-do for all LOTR and Hobbit fans! Thank you to Jude, our driver/guide who was knowledgeable and excellent.

Excellent tour and highly recommended. Expected to be in a group but this was a personal tour with just my husband and myself which was a bonus. Judy was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable of the area. Judy also made sure the day exceeded our expectations for which we are so very grateful.
