A pleasant beach but the sand quality didn't inspire us to either sit and sunbathe nor swim. We found it nice to walk along.

You walk the entire waterfront whish is flat, footpaths are wide & in great condition. You can easily walk around Mt Maunganui or to the top of it if you are game.

Yes, plenty of toilets at the Mount and along the beach, NZ toilets always cleaner than UK

Depends on the accomodation you are booking as the Mount has several types... Beach houses/ motels/ bed and breakfast... You would have to check with the establishment. If your flight lands in auckland you would take 3 hours... More
