    Fabulous little village pub!
We had a fantastic Sunday roast here with family and our 2 dogs and enjoyed it so much we came back a few nights later to try their new evening menu. Wonderfully fresh and seasonal food cooked perfectly. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and really helpful with dietary needs. If you’re staying in the area then you should definitely visit!

So today in the glorious sunshine we came for dinner at the Packet Inn not the first time for us. However to the point amazing from start to finish, young ladies who greeted us at the bar were lovely. Shown to our table drinks to start and the most amazing olives (huge) then The Roast beef the best we have ever had. Service amazing just like we would have hoped time between courses to sit relax and enjoy. Then let’s talk dessert amazing sticky toffee pudding and apple and rhubarb crumble fantastic. So worth a try amazing

Should’ve just ordered a packet of crisps.
It was a rainy and cold Tuesday night in February. We booked a table for 3 last-minute, and they just about managed to fit us in, however, we were sequestered to the corner of an open conservatory, which was awkward and alienating. They did go to the trouble to provide a makeshift radiator, though. This was a “good enough” gesture. The management and service is, at best, functional. The attitude is quite passive-aggressive, and as an experienced diner you don’t quite feel like you’re in good hands that care about customer experience or satisfaction. One business partner of mine ordered an underflavoured and uninspired “curry of the day”, whilst my other colleague ordered a satisfying double beef burger. I wasn’t that famished, so I ordered an overpriced dirty fries with chilli. The chilli was moreish, albeit in a pedestrian way, whilst the cheese was barely melted 🤷‍♂️ On the whole, nothing to return to food-wise. The venue does, however, purvey a fine selection of beers and hosts lively events for the locals.

Sunday roast. Superb. Well worth paying a bit extra for food of high standard.

The pub itself looks superb inside and out.

This was one of the most delicious meals we have had in all of Cornwall. The ingredients were all locally sourced and each component of the meal was outstanding.
The building is quite understated and hides the exceptional food within.
We had asparagus and smoked trout then brisket and chicken burger. Cheese for pudding. Very full; not a meal for dieters!

We had Sunday lunch here. Roast beef. Basically a cut above any other Sunday roast - everything done with terrific expertise. If it cost a little more than your average then it was worth every penny of it.

We'll be back every Sunday. i'll be the bald guy in the corner drooling over the way they've done the horseradish sauce and the brisket.

Had the Hake stew which was very enjoyable and was a decent sized portion as some fish dishes tend to be on the smaller side. Service was also attentive.

Besides the exquisite food, the restaurant was too cold (we all wore our jackets as we ate), the bar staff were sassy AF / borderline rude. Clearly not enjoying working there. Move on, girls!

We had 3 gluten free in our party- very little choice including no desserts, which they didn't tell us when we booked it (over a month in advance).

Booking a table there seemed too complicated - they hadn't expected us on the date we'd booked and rang to sak for the deposit even though it'd been paid. No apology or humility - none of us would eat there again. We eat out once a year for a special Christmas do, and we chose wrong!

A nice meal but left a little confused by the menu.

Perhaps it’s just us but when something is called a smokehouse, we expected ribs, steaks, pulled pork etc.

We were presented with a laminated burger menu and a wooden clipboard with more of a fine dining/ gastro vibe to it. We were confused and the waitress advised everything they cook had a smoke element to it.

3 of us had the fish dogs, which were great but they could have done with more fish, less batter. The other had the short rib which was nice, but overdone making it a bit of a challenge to eat so wouldn’t order this again.

It appears they do an early evening offer of a burger, chips and a pint and this sounds great. We will probably opt for this when we come again.

The doughnuts on the dessert menu are amazing. We have already discussed coming back for drinks and doughnuts!

We arrived a little early and were received with a very warm welcome. They have a good range of local brews and I had a tasty local IPA. Our mains were well above the level of pub food and reasonably priced. My wife’s pork loin dish look absolutely scrumptious whilst I had an up market and beautifully cooked burger. We both had puds and these were also very special and finished off a most enjoyable meal. My only concern was that as it is so good it deserves to be busier. Particularly the locals must use it through the difficult winter months. Tremendous place and dog friendly.
