Awastone is a riverside haven, set along the stunning Rangitikei River and towering Papa Cliffs in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. There are 8 well appointed powered sites that look out to the river. Facilities include power and water at your site, plus WiFi, laundry, full kitchen, accessible toilets, hot tub and a licensed cafe on site, open only through summer. There is also 2 cabins for non camper van guests. Choose from a cosy double to a full family en suite unit with 4 bedrooms. Both include linen and complimentary tea/coffee. Awastone is also the base for "MAC", a 30 year old river adventure co where their friendly guides host families on a fun 1hr trip with fun splashy rapids. A yummy snack awaits you at the finish. Awastone is central to Tongariro National Park, Whanganui, Palmerston North.

It's a little piece of paradise nestled on the Rangitikei river. The water rafting is ok and there are some fantastic historical sites to visit over the bridge.
