Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great surfing spot when conditions are good, not overcrowded in the winter and spring months.
Clean water easy access from public toilet area.

Blacks is a consistent reef break. Holds big swell. Point break left & rights. Rights work better $ longer. Gets crowded by fair local scene. Toilets at parking and wifi available. Intermedia spot, paddel out through channel. I loved it. Had amazing sessions over days!

We were on a trip from Napier to Gisborne and stopped by Blacks Beach as we were told about the surf here. It was quite treacherous the day we were there but my husband went in to surf along with about 6 others. I just watched from the top and had a bit of a walk on the sand. Too rough for me that day. But the scenery... I haven't seen anything like it before. So untouched, like a moonscape. Eerily beautiful.
